Medium brownish head, clear red-brown colour. Roasty caramel aroma. Great taste and a sweet, coffee-caramel palate. Fantastic beer. JK (6090) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - JUN 6, 2013
On tap in Rothenburg, April 2013. I found this at a random restaurant new the town hall. Nearly black, with some redness, and a tall, lacing head. A beautiful beer. Rich malt flavor. Red meat; caramel; butter; and grains. Maybe the best doppelbock I have ever had, certainly in the same caliber as Andechs. djoeye (4605) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 30, 2015

Look; light yellowish beige head and dark ruby clear body. Beautiful classic label on the bottle. Aroma; brown malts, dried dusty raisins, teak oil, vanilla chocolate. Taste; dark caramels, candiced grass, plum, nut sauce, chocolate with integrated fruits - leading to a fruity finish with dry elements and with hops and brandy notes the fruity grapey way. Good texture and soft carbonation. Overall impressed. This is really a smooth and good soft-dry sipper for any evening! 500 ml bottle picked up at the 14 FBF in Nurnberg, Germany. Pours a dark brown and reddish color. Has a small tan quick to go head. Aroma of caramel, coco and malt. Has a complex roasted and fruity flavor. Well rounded. A lasting sweet slightly bitter aftertaste with a sweet bitter finish. A very good doppelbock. I enjoyed this a lot. Dobry i treściwy doppelbock. Ciemny, machoniowy kolor i kremowa piana. W smaku rozgrzewa w zimowe wieczory, bardzo aromatyczne i smaczne piwo.

July 2010: Brown 500ml bottle. Poured into my lovely ’Wolnzacher Brauhaus’ Hopfenperle half litre glass mug.
Cracking looking beer, a deep, dark brown colour with a fantastic cream coloured foaming head. The foaming head soon became a collar and wisp, still looked fine though.
The smell was of lightly roasted malts and sweet licorice roots.
The taste and heady mix of chocolate malts, licorice and coffee hints.
Rich, creamy and a depth of body that only good DoppelBocks seem to have. The alcohol was evident, but not enough to put you off, just in the background reminding you the beer is 7.4% ABV and not to be messed with.
This is one of my favourite styles and this bottle is up there with the best in class.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown with a tan head, which soon dissipates. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, prunes, molasses. Nice nose. Flavours of marzipan, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, toffee. Very smooth. Very nice alcohol burn. Dry, sweet finish. Very pleasant. Dragonblaze99 (353) - Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2008
A nice, full-bodied beer. Good head. The only detracting thing is the somewhat metallic aftertaste. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2010
Bottled. A very dark beer with hints of purple and black and no head. The aroma has sweet plummy fruits and caramel. Good depth of flavours with fruits, sweet caramel and licorice. Another good quality drinkable doppelbock.
