UPDATED: AUG 28, 2008 On tap at Berliner Bierfestival. The other rating is done at home, with fewer previous beers, and since the newer rating is lower, I let the old one stand. It was served with a clear, copper body, and a beige head. Quite malty nose, with some hints of vegetables that I didn’t order. The same goes for the flavor, where some corn are present. I’m not fond of corn. It can be nice once in a while, to have a BBQ-ed corncob with butter and salt, but that’s enough for me. I don’t need it in salads or on burgers, and I certainly don’t need it in my beer. The mouthfeel is medium. Except for the vegetables it is a quite pleasant beer, still a bit boring. 4-4-4-3-9-2.4. Bottled as Altbayreuther Braunbier. Clear, copper-colored with a beige head. Weak but pleasant aroma of malt and caramel. Caramel, malt and some hops in the flavor. Medium body. A bit boring but not bad. (060929)
Bottle. Quite malty, a little yeasty aroma. Clear brown colour, sparkling. Small, big-bubbled head. Malty, slightly roasted flavour. Quite high carbonation. Aftertaste is just bitter. Flavour starts off nice, but unfortunately fades away after a few sips. gunnfryd (14952) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2006

Citrusaroma. A bit tart. Fairly complex taste with chocolate, citrus and some hopbitterness. Thinnish and a bit skunky aftertaste. thewolf (12629) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 27, 2007
Bottle. Pours a rich brown amber with a small fizzy off white head. Aroma has malty caramel, some light chocolate and a sweet spicy edge (ginger and vanilla perhaps?). Moouthfeel is towards the watery side. Flavour expands on the chocolate more than the caramel, but there simply isn’t enough in here. It is a good brew, but sadly lacking in both density and intensity. kevnic2008 (12010) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - SEP 1, 2012
Brown with a lasting tanned head. Aroma and flavour of toasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and nuts. shrubber85 (11448) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUL 19, 2008
Tap. Chocolate and brown sugar malt aroma. Dark brown color with moderate head. Smoky chocolate and brown sugar malt flavor. Nice body. A very nice beer. pivnizub (10662) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - OCT 6, 2008
Bügelverschlußflasche: Clear amber coloured, small, lacy off-white head, lazy carbonation; distinctive sweet dark-malty, nutty nose with a tinge of toasted malt; moderate to to robust sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; a bit drier and more bitter in the toasted-malty finish with the faintest illusions of smoked malt in the very end. Very decent, spicy stuff...........
