Couleur brune légère mousse beige. Nez caramel et chocolat assez leger. Gout chocolat leger avec caramel un peu cuit, mais assez rapide et avec corps très leger.

Sampled draught at Berliner Bier-Festival.
Orange-brown with vague cellary aroma. Clean and rather dry with some salt and medium bitterness.

(Bottle 50 cl) Comes as "Altbayreuther Braunbier - Das Echte". Dark amber - slightly hazy - with a small, creamy head. A touch of metal in the nose. Weird underlying slight tartness. Lightly burned malt character with a pronounced dry, lightly bitter finish. Not very full-bodied - actually a bit watery. Very unusual and atypical German beer. And not really your typical Dunkel. 230605

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2008 On tap at Berliner Bierfestival. The other rating is done at home, with fewer previous beers, and since the newer rating is lower, I let the old one stand. It was served with a clear, copper body, and a beige head. Quite malty nose, with some hints of vegetables that I didn’t order. The same goes for the flavor, where some corn are present. I’m not fond of corn. It can be nice once in a while, to have a BBQ-ed corncob with butter and salt, but that’s enough for me. I don’t need it in salads or on burgers, and I certainly don’t need it in my beer. The mouthfeel is medium. Except for the vegetables it is a quite pleasant beer, still a bit boring. 4-4-4-3-9-2.4. Bottled as Altbayreuther Braunbier. Clear, copper-colored with a beige head. Weak but pleasant aroma of malt and caramel. Caramel, malt and some hops in the flavor. Medium body. A bit boring but not bad. (060929)

Bottle. Light brownish colour with a nice mostly lasting off white head. Rich aroma of roasted malts and sweet caramel. Nice palate.

thewolf (12713) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 27, 2007
Bottle. Pours a rich brown amber with a small fizzy off white head. Aroma has malty caramel, some light chocolate and a sweet spicy edge (ginger and vanilla perhaps?). Moouthfeel is towards the watery side. Flavour expands on the chocolate more than the caramel, but there simply isn’t enough in here. It is a good brew, but sadly lacking in both density and intensity.

Brown with a lasting tanned head. Aroma and flavour of toasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and nuts.

Riecht sehr malzig, karamellig. Im Antrunk schäumend, mild, geschmacklich sehr malzig. In der Rezenz süßlich, karamellig. Im Nachtrunk dann leicht bitter, Röstaromen, Kaffee, Schokolade.

Mister_Li (1486) - GERMANY - MAR 17, 2016
Klares dunkles rotbraun mit reichlich Schaum. Malzig, Röstaromen, Karamell, brauner Zucker, süß, leicht würzig.
