extremely similar to Salvator on appearance. Very thick and firm head. Very aromatic, strong caramel, fruits and malt. Raisins, maybe a hint of roast and coffee also. Taste is thick! Very sweet and hard, very very malty. This is a crafty and complex brew, which I´m unsure what to make of. jonas (8157) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - MAR 23, 2008

Light hoppy, wooden malt nose, hints of strawberry
Cloudy red-brown, big creamy brown head, fine carbonation.
Roast, oak, cherrypits, light herbal notes
Oxidized wooden retronasal.
Not cloying and pleasant to drink.
0.5 l bottle. Amber-red color with creamy head. Rich sweet, malty and bready aroma with rye bread, nuts and caramel. Thick malty, bready and toasty flavor with dark rye bread, toffee and warming alcohol. Very rich tasting bock with dark bread upfront. Gr0ve (2176) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 4, 2009
500 ml bottle. Sparkling reddish copper. Very tall light beige head that clings to the glass. Delicious caramel aroma. Notes of white pepper and chocolate. Flavour is full of caramel and flavourful sweet malt. Full-bodied. Feels a little sweet, but there is quite a bit of hops to stand up against the sweetness, even though the hops are really well hidden, except for a little sharp metallic-like flavour in the finish. A great doppelbock. ischas (820) - - JAN 15, 2017

Sampled at the RBESG08 grand tasting. Clear amber/copper, medium tan head. Mudgy and caramelly malt aroma with some earthy hops. Dry finish. A good doppelbock. motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 26, 2004
bottled. aroma of honey on raisin toast. quite curious, a little vanilla and strawberry jam flavour, well-balanced, quite pale for a doppelbock without a lot of dark malt flavours but tasted as though it was 6 months old or so and had mellowed and left a nice warming sensation in the gut MoritzF (10129) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - AUG 19, 2006
(swing top bottle, with many thanks to EithCubes) Clear, dark amber colour with a big and slowly lacing beige foam. Sweet malty aroma with a soft roasted caramel note, liquorice and shades of dried red berries. Sweet flavour, rich malty taste with slightly roasted and fruity aspects; medium bodied with smooth mouthfeel; sweet malty and slightly bitter finish with a good length and well-integrated, warming notes of alcohol. Well-rounded and quaffable Doppelbock. Quinten (1062) - zaandam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 3, 2006
dark color, less head very malty. Lighter body than other doppelbocks, lively carbonation keeps this from being overly sticky,..doughy and fruity. It smells of whole-grain bread,..very plesant one.
