Light dusty aroma. Amber, beige head, fair lace. Light malty, dusty, light hoppy, pretty bitter, hint of toffee, light sourish. Medium body.
(Bottle) Very good beer. Pours nice amber colour with thick white-light brown head. Caramely and light earthy aroma with little bit of dryed fruit. Taste is lesantly hoppy bitter with sweet undertones. Very nice long bitter finish and you cen still recognize the hops. Medium body high carbonation. 3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2014 Undated bottle. Rich ruby-amber body with faint haze and a soft white head. Hoppy aroma is cherries, cedar shavings, spice mix, herbs, cinnamon candy / twizzlers, pastry dough, marzipan and gelatin candies. Savory texture, medium-full body, semi-sweet flavor with bitterness well-suited. It’s certainly a "fruity" beer but it’s not overly sweet which is what the nose suggests. Instead it’s rich, savory and soft... prickly acids and fruity esters... the carared malt is perhaps the best use I’ve ever experienced... and the Maris Otter has that brined sweet cherry quality that I get in some English ale. Stellar beer once again from Schipper’s, everything works, it seems very deliberate, even four hop strains, including one I’m learning to dislike (Motueka), everything works. dEnk (4200) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - DEC 13, 2013
Bottle @ tasting. Aroma is quite fruity, some biscuity malt notes.
Flavour is relatively dry, some fruity hops. Decent. kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 22, 2013
The head is ok, the body brown and a bit cloudy. It smells hoparomatic, sweet, fruity. The taste is fruity, hoppy, bitter-flowery, fruity, aromatic, hoparomatic tasty. 12/12/12/11/-/12

A very good all-round brew. Makes a nice change from the usual pale ales without being a difference too far. DylansDad (642) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 4, 2013
Wow. I didn’t expect this. Really blurs the boundaries for my tastebuds. The delicious hops are clean and well defined and the caramel malt is there, but a bit shy. Good, flavourful bitterness. I’m glad I had this beer, it’s very good. kerrmatt (33) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 24, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2016 500ml bottle. Great smell with floral notes that come through in tasting. Incredibly well balanced, intriguing flavours with beautiful malts; toast, caramel and barley. Delicately crafted, no doubt there! Velvety as mentioned on the bottle with some sticky resinous hops, its almost as though i?m both eating something delicious and drinking this, but it?s all beer here. Another fantastic beer from Schipper?s, highly recommended. Looking forward to having this straight off the tap. Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 21, 2013
This beer does what it says on the tin in terms of colour with a patchy skim of head to an off-cream colour. A good hoovering snort reveals tangerine, peach tart, apple peel, pecans and walnuts. There’s good hops with plentiful undertones of aromatic malt and every suggestion that it has been done well. There’s some prickly mouthfeel but good crystal malt body with some nice twinges of sprucy bitterness. The finish leans toward dessert flavours of caramelised tart, quince and Cox’s Orange Pippins. Gorgeous stuff that I can’t be encouraging enough about. Pdubyah (736) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 31, 2013
It could do with a bit more malts and a bit of length on the palate, but it’s decently hoppy and refreshing,
I’d venture this as a decent beer to session on, and one that you could reach for if you’re unsure of the others being offered.
Pleasantly surprised I was.
