Schlafly Belgian-Style Golden Ale opens with a fruity nose and rounded sweetness that compose a pale and balanced beer. Hallertau hops lend a hint of spice that balances the aroma and flavor of orchard fruit. Similar to our Belgian Tripel, but with a lighter body and a crisper finish, it is the perfect introduction to the family of Belgian beers renowned for their complexity and delicacy.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of banana and clove with a little fruitiness. Taste is light tart and very lightly bitter. Fruity with banana and clove. Full bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, pretty good. Then again, Ive yet to have a bad beer from these guys.

Bottle. The pour is a light hazy yellow. The aroma is all Belgian. The taste certainly holds true to a Belgian, but on the pale side. Not my favorite style, or my favorite beer.

12oz bottle from Spirits Rt 166. Poured an unimpressive medium density golden body under a fizzy medium sized white head. Aroma of yeast, bubblegum, dry tropical fruits, sugar, troast, clove and banana. Full big body with lively carbonation and a lingering aftertaste. Flavor is the same as the aroma with a big nod to the Belgian yeast strain followed by bubble gum and dry tropical fruits. Meh this is okay but not really feeling it tonight.

12 oz bottle, Bottled on 25 April 13, served in a Belgian snifter. Pours a hazy yellow-golden with a small head. The head soon reduces to a ring but manages to produce average lacing. S: Lemon, pear, starfruit & apple plus spicy hops. Some subtle banana comes to the fore in tasting. Like many Belgians, this one tastes much better than it smells. Feel: Medium-light body; crisp carbonation; finishes semi-dry O: easy to drink; a very solid example of style that could readily pass for an actual Belgian.

Ar: Peach and cloves - a bit medicinal. Ap: Hazy golden - medium white head with decent retention and a ring of foam remaining. T: Banana and peach, with a touch of malt sweetness - clove and rosy alcohol, with a lot of clove coming through - medicinal flavor comes forward with some prominence - medium-low bitterness - peppery and more banana on the finish. P: Medium body with high carbonation, creamy and full - finish is dry. O: This beer has a lot going for it, but the medicinal quality is just a bit too forward, and really detracts from some of the other nice flavors.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2013 Pours a nice golden color with a fair head and bits of lacing. Aroma of mild citrus, fresh fruit, with a hint of malt sweetness. Taste is quit clean with a mild fruit sweetness, with a bit of citrus and malt sweetness. Mild bitterness and a dry finish. Fairly moderate body, crisp and refreshing. The 7% ABV is very well hidden. Nicely balanced. Enjoyable beer that goes down way too easy.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of bread, toast, spice, herbal hop finish. The taste is stone fruits, yeast, heavy phenolic spice. Medium bodied. Decent.

Pours bright golden from growler, creamy head laces the tulip glass. Aroma of tart apple and mild banana uneasiness. Creamy on first taste yielding to a surprising bitter, refreshing finish that nicely matches the tart apple hints. Flavors and aroma deepen as it warms in the glass.
