Aroma seduces the olfactory with hints of a quickie, in and out with you wanting more. Subtle but satisfactory finish leaving with a pleasant aftertaste. One of my standby beers, readily at hand. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - AUG 11, 2003
Very nice aroma: strong, yet subtle hops. Hazy deep gold, almost amber color. Good carbonation. Good lace. Head disappates almost fully. Very robust hoppy flavor. Bittering hops very evident. This one rivals 3 Floyds' Alpha King and falls only just short. I would drink this any day. hophead411 (1) - Missouri, USA - MAR 7, 2009 does not count
I love this beer. Leaves a great taste in your mouth. Smells great. This is an excellent beer dwyerpg (6069) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 14, 2012
A yellow-orange. This is good. Some fruitiness in it but a pilsener-like dryness to the finish. Not much in the aroma. Very heady; most of any beer so far since my 40-day sabbatical. A creaminess to the head. Overall pretty good. Drier than you’d expect for an APA but good. Hartung32 (252) - Indiana, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Outstanding APA!!! This and Sun King Osiris and Oskar Blues Pale are damn near perfect for those who like their APAs more in the IPA style.

A brawny American Pale with a big pine/citrus and resin hop nose, but a lightly sweet lightly nutty mild malt backbone. Finishes lightly sweet then swings back with a bitter whack before settling into a mild citrus-laced malt fade. A fine looker as well, pouring hazy amber with a frothy resilient white head that drags scattered lace across the quickly emptying glass. A truly fine APA that showcases the best qualities of the style. sethdude (706) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 12, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2007 on tap at brewery: Much like the pale, only much hoppier with a nice dry finish. Better than their standard pale ale.
Bottled: Pours a good golden amber, with a decnt foamy head on top. Aroma is citrusy, sweet malts, and a bit of pepper. Flavor is tangy and zesty. First comes the hoppy bitterness, then the citrus, then malts, and lastly, a dry grassy finish. Does everything a good APA does, and then some
2007: Dry hopping takes this beer over-the-top, massive hop aroma, pine needles and warm cereal nose, big hop flavor, with an excellent balance of malts following. Sweet, but the hops balance it exteremely well. This could very well be my all-time favorite session beer, as it is an incredible example of exactly how hops can balance malty sweetness perfectly. Fantastic. kumlerme (5) - - AUG 23, 2013 does not count
Draught at the tap room. Excellent. Great citrus nodes and clean taste. Was really surprised as in the past haven’t enjoyed dry hopped beers. A highlight. igneous1 (1535) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - SEP 16, 2003
cask conditioned..woohoo!!!! extremely crisp, loads of grapefruit with a little orange in the aroma...plenty of malts to balance this sucker out...just rockin'! ultraspank (867) - Alverca, Lisboa, PORTUGAL - JUL 22, 2007
Thanks to Bob, Michelle, and mostly my baby Jana for the 12th annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival today! On tap @ the fest. Very fresh nose of pine & citrus. The brew is amber clover honey. The nice cascade meanders into a fully lasting tall stiff off-white creamy head. The exceptional flavor has a huge citrus presence. Great balance and depth, not unlike the Alpha King! The medium body is lively and dry. The finish feels astringent. One of the highlights of the festival!
