Aged a couple of years. Starts with a good tasty drinkable combination of Belgian yeasts. Not as good after food.

Pours a very dark golden color with a little haze to it, white head. Light fruits, dark fruits, yeast, and some alcohol on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a sweet note.

750mL bottle, just capped, Bottled with love on 111412, drunk here on 061814, tiny bit of a gusher. Nose sweet with wheat, citrus, malt, vanilla; airy with very jammy fruit and heavily phenolic Belgian yeast, has some spicy Saison notes and man that fruit is really sticky, isn’t it? It’s really cranked, like this was fermented in the trunk of somebody’s car. Pours Clear golden with a little less effervescence than expected, a dense and foamy off-white head. Taste is sharp, tart with semi-sweetness, a ton of alcoholic heat (aggressive, some burn that really lasts, but not off-putting), low bitterness in a slightly oily, watery-light body. Malt is a bit thin, this sucker really leans heavy on the esters and especially phenols, airy with a bit of yeast but obviously filtered. The fruit and citrus/vanilla are still there, hops minimized, rounded spice, but everything takes a back seat to the alcohol/heat and jammy/nail polish/tart yeast products. Strap yourself in!

The appearance of this beer is an opaque dark golden color with a small white head and chunks of yeast that sink to the bottom, and the aroma blends Belgian yeast, hay malts, sour fruit, alcohol, and a hint of white pepper. The taste is mildly sour on the front end but mellows out to include a slight sweetness and a touch of umami towards the tail end; the palate is great due to the medium-full body, slick and thick texture, and soft carbonation, andt the astringent finish due to the slight alcohol rounds out the sipping experience.

Rated on 10-22-2009 (Bottle) When poured, this beer forms a large frothy white head that mostly diminishes, hazy golden body, fizzy carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The Aroma consists of yeast, fruit and spice. The Taste is spicy, sweet and fruity. This beer has a short dry finish. The Palate is mildly tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this is another nicely brewed beer from Schlafly. I enjoyed the flavor of this beer and it is worth trying. This is definitely a beer I recommend trying and a beer I would enjoy drinking again.

SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 22, 2013
