750ml bottle. Pours a golden orange color with white head. Belgian yeast and dark malt flavors. Malty, yeasty, slight barnyard flavors. A servicable strong belgian.
Pours attractive old gold with a bit of yellow sparkle, a frothy white head that leaves a bit of lace and some nice skim.
Nose is orchard fruit, yeast, alcohol. Palate opens with pears and rhubarb, quickly giving over to honey and bread. Lots of yeast, as befitting the style, some coriander and floral, perfumed hops kept in their place.
Medium body, but the attraction is the foamy mouthfeel, carbonated but silky, not spiky. This approaches Unibroue style, and of course, La Fin du Monde is a distant beacon lighting the goal.
Grand Cru doesnít develop the complexity to get that far, but it is another very good effort from one of the most consistently interesting US brewers.

DATE: June 19, 2019... enjoying this in a Chimay goblet at halftime of the most important game Iíve witnessed in my thirty-nine years--Game Seven between Cleveland and Golden State (Cavs down seven)... pours a half-inch head, foamy and resilient... dense, dark amber body shows whirling spirals of effervescence... one whiff and WOW--sour apple! citric elements include grapefruit, lemon, and pleasant spices--prune too... strong phenol tinges the taste with alcohol... toasted bread malts make a lasting impression.... a solid, balanced finish, with the teeth whistle in a breeze of hops... leaves a spicy grapefruit and apple aftertaste... sneaky smooth and easy front to back... VERY sour, with a tart aroma that is slightly off-putting... this is a complex, challenging beer--not unlike this game, which plays a tug of war with my heart and mind--with the sour apple mingling with sugary, candied elements to produce a strong punch to the throat... recommended? on a dare, yes... as a kick-back-and-drink beer? not so much...a nice beer to ponder slowly... unclemike (3115) - Ft. Pours a clear, deep gold with white fizzy head. Aroma of funk, citrus, some nuttiness. Flavor is very nice funk, tart, some citrus. Mouth feel is light-medium body, fizzy carbonation. Overall, very good stuff! Boutip (6332) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 22, 2015
Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a nice medium size foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of residual sugar notes with some fruity and candy-like ester with some Belgian malt. Taste is also dominated by sugary notes with some candy-like ester with some Belgian malt notes. Body is full for style with medium carbonation and no alcohol note really apparent. Enjoyable but a bit sweeter then I would like. rejtable (2624) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2015
Pours mostly clear dark gold with lots of foamy head and some clumpy lacing. Nose is very fruity, apple sauce and peach pie. Flavours are apple sauce, peach pie, some dough, honey and some lemon tang in the finish. Taste light/med sweet light bitter. Medium fizzy body with a lasting bitter bite to the finish. Really well done.

Getting my Missouri heritage fix today. Iíd have liked to see a better beer from these guys for something titled grand cru but then that is often the case with breweries. A case of trying too hard perhaps. Pours blonde with good head and lacing. Light florals and a hint of citrus. Light tangy sweet finish. Tap at scion. kraddel (7859) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - FEB 14, 2015

Aged a couple of years. Starts with a good tasty drinkable combination of Belgian yeasts. Not as good after food.
