This beer pours a very clear reddish brown color with a medium off-white head, and the aroma is reminiscent of toasted malts, earthy hops, and almonds. The taste is a touch sweet, slightly bitter, and mildly umami with a slightly nutty and slightly roasty aftertaste. On tap at Llywelyn’s Pub in St Charles. Served a dark brown color with a thick head that faded to nice lacing. Aroma of malt, bit of caramel and light touch of grain. Taste of malt, caramel sweetness with bit of garin in the background. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, smooth and a bit creamy. It looks pretty. Now for the rest of the story. Horribly over-hopped. Hops aroma completly masks any aroma of malt. The same goes for taste-- all I get is hops, hops, hops, with a very long, resinous-bitter finish. I had three friends do a blind taste test, and not one of them identified this as a brown ale. Two actually thought it was IPA!
If you like IPA, you might like this. If you are expecting the character, flavor, and aroma of a brown ale, you’ll be disapointed.

Pours a clear golden copper with a big full antique lace head that goes a little flat after a couple of minutes. Aroma is dry grain and floral spiciness. Tap at Paradiso dupont. Pours a clear cola red. Medium tan Foam. Spots of lacing. Nose is hazelnut, praline, cookie. Taste is really nice peanut butter chocolate cookie, woah, hazelnut, almond, praline, Toblerone. Surprisingly good. Worth finding. On tap at Llwelyn’s in St. Charles. It poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was a little hoppy with citrus and a touch of maltiness. Medium/light body and medium carbonation.
