Pours very dark brown to black with a decent khaki-mocha head that settles fairly quickly to a thin ring and leaves some fine intricate lacing. Nose involves coffee mostly, just a nice dose of cold brewed coffee. Maybe hints of dark chocolate and earthy stuff. Somewhat sweet, fairly bitter. Lighter bodied, thinner, somewhat oily, fairly active, finishing somewhat dry with coffee. Decent coffee beer, easier to drink than many, but not super rewarding. Rocky white head and a black pour. Chocolate, coffee, and just a touch of orange in the aroma. The body is not a little too light, but has a nice coffee and chocolate flavor. GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - NOV 5, 2014

Memorial Day weekend, got a few beer geeks running around my house and I know what I have in store for them, thanks to a nice trade from brother Lou. This was a very nice coffee stout and it’s strength lies with the flavor.
The beer pours out a deep black body, medium-sized mocha colored head with really nice retention. Aroma starts off with coffee (no surprise there), but some light tobacco, leather and even some cream kind comes in there (I’ve been on a coffee kick lately, so maybe that’s my imagination playing tricks on me). Flavor has a nice mocha quality to it, but leans a little to the drier side of coffee flavors and not the sweeter. Tastes almost like some coffee grounds were sprinkled in there before capping the bottle. Big roasty flavors, the charr is kept well in balance and the dry cocoa flavor is also welcome. Definitely a keeper. Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - OCT 18, 2014
Bottle thanks to sparty26. Deep crown with a beige head. Dark chocolate with espresso. Straight, strong coffee. slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 26, 2014
"i don’t know anything about the "cold toddy method" but the coffee presence in this beer was super-fresh, almost like chewing on a fresh picked bean. definitely at the fore-front. another one that covered up the beeryness of the beer, but not in a bad way. smooth texture, medium bodied. some light roast and chocolate and hops to accompnay the coffee. Another nice beer from Lou!"

Drought. Inky black with spongy tan head, strong coffee aroma, the taste of coffee is unexpectedly mild and balanced, low carbonation, long finish with coffee aftertaste. I am pleasantly surprised with the smoothness of this brew. alexsdad06 (10268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 9, 2014
12 oz bottle from backlog notes. Pours dark brown in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, nice black coffee, decent bitterness, dark chocolate, very mild caramel, with an earthy finish. My only complaint is that the body is thin for a stout. (Bottle). Pours a deep brown with minimal head and little to no lacing on glass. Aroma of stale coffee and malt. Flavor is overwhelmed by bitter coffee. The brewer falls short with this selection.

Dark brown coloured body with a two centimetre tall tan head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of coffee (duh), nuts, hay, grass, alcohol and a lot of roasted malt - strong and quite bitter smelling from the brewed coffee. Medium-bodied; Strong brewed coffee flavour with a lighter nutty and earthy pungency and a light grassy and herbal note. Aftertaste shows some nuttiness with a lot of coffee bitterness, but not from the beans, just from brewed coffee with no sweetness and not much complexity. Overall, a decent beer, but missing a lot of the real flavours you’d expect from this one and only showing the nuttier and bitter finish. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom), DC on 24-February-2014 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 05-June-2014. Bottle, thnx to hopscotch. Pours a very dark brown, almost black beer with a small beige head on top. Aroma is mostly coffee and roasted malts and molasses. Flavor is coffee, sweet dark malts and it sure does honor to its name. Lots of coffee in there, sweet background. Long, light bitter aftertaste. Nice one.
