4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured a deep black color with a big tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, toffee, and nuts. Taste is coffee and chocolate. Pretty much if you like coffee you will love this beer as I did.
Pours a deep brownish black on tap with bubbly tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of big cold brew coffee notes over a hint of roasted malt and earthy ending. Taste is pretty much straight cold brewed coffee, not a whole lot else going on. A little thin for a stout, but one of the better ones of the day. balloonbuffoon (601) - - SEP 28, 2017
12floz bottle, BOD: 08.17.2017, bought as part of a Schlafy mix 12-pack for $13, poured into a nonic glass. Not yet in six-packs, the brewer snuck this in a 'bon-fire' pack of beers. Looks good with a very dark brown color and a resting tan head. Even better is the fresh brewed coffee aroma. Some coffee stouts try to smack the drinkers tastebuds with overly robust roastedness, sweetness, or something else in combination with those traits. Here it is kept simplistic. Body is medium, bitterness is mild, roasted qualities are smoothly moderate to let the coffee, cocoa dust, and some sweetener come through. Quality stuff. Palme (4823) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 30, 2017
On tap @ Shortys. This is a deep and dark brown looking one. A small softly lacing beige head on the top. Smells really good, a ton of cold coffee. Freshly roasted coffee, traces of bitter dark chocolate also, but the coffee really dominates here. As does it in the taste. It’s actually really well balanced between the coffee bitter and the chocolate sweet. Light oily on the texture and it’s just below average on the carbonation. Dark cardboard, mocha and some chocolate in the finish. Nice one.14.06.2015 Frank (4235) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2017
A Schalfly beer that is actually kind of good? I don’t really believe it but it is this beer. This is the "cold cup of coffee" style of coffee stout and it’s pretty well done. There’s lots of roasty coffee, of course, along w/ some subtle fruity cherry notes and vanilla. This is a bit sweeter than I would like and consequently feels just a hair too heavy and sluggish to me plus there is a very slight green pepper note that doesn’t ruin anything but those are my only two complaints. Overall, this is a fairly decent cup of coffee that gets you drunk. gripweed57 (2862) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAR 4, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Translucent black brown color. Moderate rocky tan head. Big coffee and roasted malt nose. Flavor follows the nose. Notes of tobacco and French roast coffee. There is an underlying, earthy oat-like character at play. Rich and flavorful with substantial body and complexity. Very nice indeed.

Bottle from Discount. Pours a deep brown to black with almost no head. Huge coffee nose that dominates with cacao nib, wood and milk chocolate undertones. Good carbonation with more chocolate and coffee. Light on the palate but has a nitro cold brew quality to it. Roasty coffee finish, with some sweetness. This is legit! 12oz bottle from Beer Bazaar in Hainesville. Brown pour with a rapidly disappearing beige head leaving no lace. Aroma has espresso, light molasses, other malts. One dimensional nose, but it is a solidly good dimension. Taste is of coffee malt and some other sweet malts. Lightly roasty. Medium bodied. Little alcohol presence. The blend is solid. The carbonation is soft. Finishes to the sweet side of bittersweet. Shrug? For a Schlafly, and a one-dimensional brew, this is solid enough and fairly tasty. 13.7 MacNJ (108) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Poured from a 12oz bottle. Poured ink black, but failed to retain any head or lacing. Strong nose of strong, black coffee. It tasted more like coffee than beer. Not really boozy, but that’s ok. A little on the watery side (felt more like a porter than a stout). Cheers! alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - DEC 17, 2016
Bottle. Dark pour, small head. Coffee strong on the nose. Flavor of coffee, oats, nuts and caramel. A pretty well balanced coffee beer douglas88 (9628) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 13, 2016
12 ounce bottle. Pours a pitch black color that is actually dark brown when held up to the light with a small white head. A huge coffee nose. Very rich coffee, vanilla, green coffee beans, sugary vanilla. Coffee beers aren’t usually my thing, but this is still good.
