I’ve never good experience with Schlafly, but this was a pretty good one. It pours almost black and is slightly translucent. The head is tan and thin but hangs around lacing all the way down the glass. To me, this tastes like cold coffee. It’s got a heavy coffee kick and quite a bitter aftertaste. Surprisingly, I found this to be a darn good coffee stout. berrya785 (441) - Kansas, USA - MAR 20, 2012
UPDATED: APR 27, 2012 Smells like coffee. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Pretty sweet and malty with a coffee taste. Very good. alcaponejunior (438) - Texas, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Absolutely great beer, one of my favorites from Schlafly. Smells wonderfully coffee! Taste is a great blend of their wonderful oatmeal stout and terrific coffee flavors. The only bad thing about this beer is that it’s not a year round offering! SkyinBrian (430) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 15, 2007
Ah, nothing like an everyday coffee stout! This one has a very strong coffee aroma. The taste is again coffee with chocolate and other wise nice roastiness. a slight bitterness from the coffee and chocolate flavors and little smokey flavor. I wish that they made this year round. joshmcg000 (388) - Iowa, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Pours black with off white head. Nice rich coffee aroma. Grainy oatmeal malty texture. Good fresh coffee flavor. Fairly medium easy to drink body. Straightforward good coffee stout.

Bottle. Thanks to jdg0608. Poured a very dark black color. Aroma of mocha and hops is present. Taste of water is present with a coffe after hint. Imperial_Scout (363) - Illinois, USA - AUG 5, 2013
dark water brown. Deep coffee nose. Taste good but a little watered down. Kind of plain and light. Criz (358) - - JAN 19, 2014
On tap enjoyed with Drew estate nica rustica cigar so taste was slightly masked. Sweet coffee flavor with molasses. Good pour. krysztofar (344) - belleville, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2007
Color is a deep garnet with an off-white, tall, and rocky head that leaves some light lacing. Aroma is rich with coffee and some dark dried fruits. Flavor is dry with coffee and molasses notes. good stuff. a little thin in the middle, but a nice contrast between roasted malts and a hoppy back end bite. 12 oz. bottle: Pours a dark brown with a fizzy thin tan head that disappears quickly like a soft drink Coffee aroma and flavor is evident with hints of chocolate and roasted nuts. I was expecting more, but it is a good beer.
