Another one of my favorite beers. I can usually only have one or two a night, due to the extreme taste. FrankLe (14) - New York, USA - NOV 23, 2010
Had on tap at Schlafly’s brew pub in St.Louis. The beer was very dark almost black. Aroma was of strong coffee almost like espresso. This tasted of delicious strong coffee and roasted malt. This was truly superb on tap. millerclmb (44) - Boulder, Missouri, USA - APR 6, 2006
I love coffee (I drink black coffee every morning) beers and this is the best one I have had. I’ve tried Java porters and java stouts and this one really does balance well the bitterness of the coffee with the rich full tase of the oat meal stout. It suits my taste well. This is truly a fantastic coffee stout. Pouring it into a glass you can immediately notice the rich aroma on the nose. The head is creamy but not gummy like a dry stout. The deep color in combination with the aroma will actually make your pallet start to twinge in anticipation. A coffee stout brew by a coffee company? You can’t go wrong. Highly recomend this brew for those who enjoy a fresh cup of joe. Braudog (6803) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - MAR 5, 2006
From the bottle. Pitch black with a nice tan head. One of the best java aromas I’ve ever encountered. Superbly well balanced coffee-flavored beer. Another outstanding effort.

IF you are a fan of stouts and of fresh black coffee give this a shot. otherwise this might not be an enjoyable experience. I got it in a bottle in a create your own 6-pack. curious to try it on tap. BigBastard (668) - L.A., California, USA - NOV 6, 2006
Deep, cooffee black color, no head. Aroma is just like walking into the coffee shop, robust and fresh brewed aroma. Flavor also has a full bodied, fresh brewed coffee taste. Very good, I’d like more of this. NeoHippie2 (1074) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUN 24, 2008
Ah now this was truly an exceptional and original stout. Pours a deep brown/coffee with a generous tan head. Lots of coffee on the nose. The coffee presence is actually very noticeable in the beer. Has the taste of straight up coffee, not roasted but added to the beer. It creates a very nice union between the coffee and the beer. Not abrasive at all. Finishes with just the right amount of bite of hops. Truly a complex and interesting beer. If you like coffee, you should love this one. Highly reccomended Gabemik (46) - Joplin, Missouri, USA - APR 8, 2007
This beer is akin to drinking a carbonated, iced coffee. My only problem with the beer is in the mouthfeel. It’s thinner than what I expect from a stout. This may be due to the coffee that’s infused in the stout. If you like iced mochas. coffees, ect. then you should try this brew. SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Pours black with small brown fizz. Smells of coffee and hints of chocolate. Taste is coffee and some roasted notes. Medium-bodied with a smooth, gummy texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Schlafly Coffee Stout finishes with some coffee bitterness.
