A standard aroma is 7, this beer is lucky I gave it a six. There was a slight alcoholic note to the aroma, along with a mineral, acidic nose. The taste was a little of soy, but mostly of roasted malt. The beer is straightforward, not very complex. That said, it is a good beer. It just does not rate very well. Very quaffable. I like it. sethdude (706) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 12, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2005 Nitro Tap at the Taproom: Smells sweet and dark fruit, good head and lcing. Flavor is excellent. Sweet ,alts, tobacco, dark frit, coffee, and hops. Very nice. MOboy (504) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - SEP 22, 2002
Almost positive ths was served on nitro, yet it retained flavor!! Very smooth body, coal black, roasty nose. This was less roasty than it was chocolatey. Jake Barnes (456) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 30, 2002
Tasted an awful lot like a certain Irish Stout we all know. madscotsman (147) - Fairview Heights, Illinois, USA - SEP 23, 2007
Had this at Hop in the City. Had a nice dark color with a small khaki head. Had some malts in the aroma and some fruity sweetness. Had a decent finish, but nothing memorable. I’ll stick with the irish extra stout.

Pretty average beer that lacked roasted barley flavor needed in a stout. Otherwise a nice drinking beer.
