COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schafly 20, Volume 3: Citrus Wit is designed and brewed by our third generation of Schlafly brewers (1998-2008: Neal Curtis, Matt Peterson, Joseph Davis, Eric Roy, Bill Joslyn, Matt Murphy, Nick Vickery, Chris Faerber), who were instrumental in our transition from local brewpub to regional brewery. With the third generation comes experience from brewers who joined us from around the country and world; Citrus Wit is a collaboration of this shared experience. This traditional Belgian-style white beer is flavored with orange, lemon and grapefruit peel and coriander to refresh a parched palette.

Picked up a bottle at the tap room downtown a few years ago. Pours an orangish color with a nice head. Citrus clove and some wheat. Light bodied. Nice beer.

Botle from Culinaria. Pours golden with a thin white head that quickly disappears. A bit of orange on the nose. Bigger orange notes on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid for style.

Citrus, acidic, and sour. I dont like sour beers, but this seems representive of a decent one.

It poured a cloudy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of clove, some maltiness and citrus. The taste was lots of citrus with a little hint of spice and some lemon peel. Not my favorite of the four volumes, but a good Citrus Witbier beer none the less.

750ml Bottle: Got in trade from Phaleslu; THANKS Peter! Aroma of wheat, coriander, grain, dust, citrus, yeast, and light banana. Poured gold/amber/orange in color with a small, loose, white head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film in top of the beer. Cloudy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of wheat, yeast, banana, coriander, citrus, and dust. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Wheat, banana, coriander, yeast, coriander finish.

Bottle from phaleslu. Pours a cloudy creamy orange with a small frothy offwhite head. Aroma of creamed wheat, orangepeel, coriander, touch of sweet dough. Nice body. Bright spices, creamy grainy wheat. Nice.

Capped 750 from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours orange tinged dirty dishwater with a foamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is sort of citrus/orange with something cooked. Like cooked wheat? Med body. Flavor is marvelously citrus. I think it’s orange and grapefruit. Wheat/malt just is way down the list here. There’s some yeast/spice. This approaches Imperial Wit. Doesn’t quite get there, but it’s close. Really interesting ale.

A cloudy yellow pour with a white head. The aroma is lemon peel, cloves, and wheat. The light body has a thin texture with lively carbonation. It has a sweet taste with a quick, clean finish.
