UPDATED: APR 21, 2006 12oz bottle acquired in trade with TannerTavernboys (thanks!). Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate and oatmeal. From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a bottled on date, Oct/04/05. Made a good appearance, poured a opaque dark chocolate with a nice sized foamy pale tannish white head that settled into a thin, clingy, bubbly lacing, moderate carbonation. Had a faint roasted barley malt nose with an oatmeal sweetness. A smooth medium bodied mouth feel, average drinkability. Lightly roasted malt flavor, a little chocolate maltiness, a soft, rolling hop bite, a gentle sweetness and a sweet, watery finish.
I love the Kaldi’s Coffee Stout, and while this Oatmeal Stout has decent drinkability, it is average tasting at best, not one of Schlafly’s better efforts.

Nice roasted malt aroma with soem coffee. Fairly light pour of deep mahogany and a decent size white head. Light in body. Thanks Seth! This black baby poured dark as night, fluffy dark tan head. Nose was all roasted malts. Taste was coffee and chocolate and alight bitterness. Damn nice stout. I loved it.

The reddish-brown body is very pale for a stout. The head is small and fades quickly. The aroma is some roast and circus peanuts. Bottle. Sweet caramel nose. Medium dark color with thin head. I thought this one had a nice sweetness, but the watery mouthfeel washed the flavor away too quickly.
