A nice dark stout with some coffee/chocolate notes and underlying hoppy presence. Not bad bottled, but even better on tap. Good rich taste with roasted malt & coffee coming through strongest at the start. Finishes a bit bitter, but not really bad.

Bottled 10/26/05: Nice coffee and mocha aroma; malty, mocha begiining, roasty, slightly hoppy bitter finish; lightly acidic with a slick mouthfeel. One of the best oatmeal stouts yet.

Bottled Nov. 9, 2005. Dark dark brown with a tan disappearing head. Aroma of caramel and grain. Nice body. Sweet, coffee, roasty, grassy. Grassy, roasty finish. I dont really see why its called an oatmeal stout.

Bottle. Sweet caramel nose. Medium dark color with thin head. I thought this one had a nice sweetness, but the watery mouthfeel washed the flavor away too quickly.

Draft from the Tap Room. Dark brown and opaque. Tan clinging head. Slight chocolate, grainy nose. Full and rich. Chocolate and deep dark coffee flavors. Sweet, but with a dry finish. Slight pine.

Bottle. Black with amber highlights, fine tan head. Dry, roasty perked coffee aroma. Not much of what I expect as oatmeal character. Dry, pleasant roast astringency. I liked this better on tap. As tasted here, its still pleasant, but a bit one-note. And tap or bottle, the version with coffee is much more interesting.

Bottled 12/09/2004. This oatmeal stout pours a dark black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized tan/beige foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied Oatmeal Stout. Malts are roasty and chocolate. Slightly spicy hops. Nice chewy mouthfeel. Nice balance between the roastiness and the sweetness. Very smooth tasting. Slightly dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some coffee characters.

Probiere (992) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 28, 2005
Strange notes of caramel, spring water, berry syrup, and oreos. An attempt at an oatmeal stout that ends up a little too sweet and light-bodied. Barely any roast character at all.

On tap and then later from a bottle. Heres an instance where I liked the beer better from the bottle - the tap version felt thinner and the bottled version was thicker and more full flavored. Plenty of roasted coffee and nutty caramel aroma. Sweet at the front followed by caramel, oats, coffee, and finished with some chocolate and more roast.

Draft in shaker glass. This beer is nearly black in color with a creamy persistant head and a solid lacing that obscures the outside of the glass. It has a faint unpleasant metallic aroma. You can taste oatmeal (suprising, eh?) and a bit of coffee and roasted barley. Its very good and extremely drinkable. This is an excellent stout despite its unpleasant aroma.
