Poured brown into a snifter. Almost black in the glass, tan 1/2 inch head.
Roasted barley, burnt malt
Burnt malt and bitterness dominate. One dimensional. Good, but lacking complexity and balance. The hops have taken this stout hostage.
Soft and smooth. Moderate carbonation, light to medium body.
Drinkable, but I’m unlikely to get more of this.
On draft at Schlafly Bottleworks. The pourbisba brown color with a lot of ruby shining through the clarity. The light tan head sticks around and leaves a lot of lace. The aroma is bitter roast. There might be a little bit of chocolate in there but for the most part it’s just roasted malt. The flavor is worse. There is a fruity thing happening that just doesn’t work. The chocolate is light and the malts are bitter. This just isn’t good. The mouth feel watery and light with lack of carbonation and a lingering bitter roast and fruity chocolate. No thanks. Very good stout. Slight oatmealy overtone flavor. Really good palate and variety of layers of taste for a stout. Tasted great with barbecue pork chops. floydslip (401) - Washington DC, USA - APR 9, 2017
Dark cola brown beer with a thick foamy beige head. Nose of unsweetened cocoa, vanilla, and nuts, but it’s a bit faint. Flavor is rich with roasted grain, semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, and candied almonds. A bit light bodied for a stout, it still has creamy carbonation and a decent mouth feel. Good beer. alobar (3794) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 19, 2017
Cola brown pour with no head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and oats. Rich flavor of roasted malt, oats, and a slight caramel sweetness. Very nice. willisread (3350) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 18, 2017
Bottle from Discount. Pours a deep brown to black with a half finger of head that dissipates quickly. Coffee on the nose with cacao nib. Light with a cola-like carbonation. More toasted cacao and coffee on the palate. Smooth. This has a lot of flavor but still light. Solid.

Opaque black, just a hint of mahogany red around the edges. Minimal head and lacing. Modest espresso aromas, roasted malts, oatmeal and a hint of ash. Malt sweetness hits first, with a sense of hops bitterness that creeps in then goes away. Coffee and chocolate are clear, with a clear oat presence. Medium bodied, no carbonation to speak of, ,silky smooth mouthfeel and the malt sweetness outlasts any hops in the finish. MacNJ (95) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Poured from a 12oz bottle. Poured ink black with a thin head. Nose of medium roast coffee. Creamy mouth feel with a nice finish. Hints of bakers chocolate and roasted coffee. Much better than their coffee stout. Cheers! Lubiere (13915) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 27, 2016
A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light figs, dark fruits, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, light coffee grind, musty character, light vanilla extract, a bit thin but overall, still solid after a few years.
