Pours hazy caramel orange with a small off-white head that’s continually fed by a stream of bubbles from the bottom.
Aroma is massively sweet and boozy. Tons of candi sugar and overripe light fruits, peaches and apricots especially. The Belgian yeast is present with some light spiciness. It’s a bit too sweet for my liking in the nose.
The taste is a little better and more complex than the nose. It’s still dominated by the booze-soaked lighter fruits and candi sugar but the spicy yeast is more prevalent . The finish is sweet with tons of alcohol burn.
The mouthfeel is really good, highly carbonated with medium body, but the alcohol presence is big enough to become distracting.
Overall, a decent but overly sweet quad which doesn’t hide it’s alcohol all that well. A nice sipper but make sure you have some folks to share this bottle with. steelcitybrew (454) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 22, 2011
pours a nice brown with a biege head. nose is sweet fruit, nuts, raisins, apple, and yeast. taste is malty, caramel, dark fruit and belgian yeast. overall a pretty good brew. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 18, 2011
Nice caramel color, beige head. Aroma is fruity, yeast and alcohol. Strong honey, caramel, booze. keepersj12 (3137) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - MAR 18, 2011
I loved the aroma when I opened it. Fruity wine like, very nice bouquet. The flavor though was a bit of a let down. Malty, caramel with a bit of a metallic taste. After it warmed a little, the metallic taste was gone. Maybe it was something on the glass, I don’t know. Nice beer. patrick767 (4115) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 8, 2011
bottle - Pours hazy amber and smells of dark fruit and Belgian yeast. The flavor is sweet malt with caramel and dark fruit. The alcohol is definitely present but it’s not a strong flavor. Smooth and full bodied, this brew is a nice slow drinker.

750 back from Nashville on my last trip there. First impression is of a fruity, earthy, dirty, malty and smooth drink. Sadly though it lacks a bit of complexity you often get from some of the belgian versions of this style. Pours a murky brown with a slight red hue. Aroma is earthy and slightly wild from the yeast. Red fruit flavors and some chocolate malt working in the background. A gritty texture to finish everything off. obguthr (6595) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Pungent cider vinegar nose, with caramel struggling to break through, butterscotch also present. Cloudy ochre, fine floaties, thin head. Intensely sweet and sour initially. Apples, cherries, and plum become more discernible at midpalate, with the latter most prominent. Apple core and grape skin finish. Medium body, harshly fizzy. All the complexity and strength I expected, fairly drinkable a little at a time. Not quaffable, but not a chore. LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - JAN 26, 2011
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark amber with a white film that subsides to nothing.ljay6880 (475) - , Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 17, 2010
Aroma: Plum, dark sugar, spicy fruity yeast.
Taste: Sweet booze (an after dinner cordial), burnt sugar, white pepper, spicy hot finish.
Mouthfeel: Spicy, full bodied and prickly.
Overall: Really nice, very bold, flavorful with a great mouthfeel. One of Schlafly’s best offerings.
750 ml bottle served in a tulip. Pour is red highlighted amber with 3 fingers of foamy off-white head on top; head retention is above average and there is a bit of lacing as well. Nose is apricot, pineapple, Belgian yeast, cloves, and a bit of banana. Taste is initially yeast, apricot and malt. This is followed by a lovely mixture of spice, yeast, and light apricot that comprise the finish. This is a tasty Quad, not my favorite, but definitely worth a taste. michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 14, 2010
750ml Bottle: Kinda strange aroma of friend chicken, Belgian yeast, banana, light orchard fruits, and some wood. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized, creamy, loose, beige head that diminished but lasted throughout. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of Belgian yeast, slight banana, sugar, light alcohol, nuts, toasting, slight brown sugar, orchard fruits, slight hops, and some Belgian candy. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Sugar, Belgian yeast, nuts, toasting, light orchard fruits, round out the finish. 12%ABV is noticeable in the flavor, but not hot.
