3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange color, very little head. Aroma is sweet, yet spicy. Citrusy sweet taste, with a slightly bitter, dry aftertaste. Enjoyable.
Not exactly retired beer...25.4floz (750ml) bottle, BOD: 02.02.2016 (I recall having this when it was a seasonal six-pack of 12floz bottles release - and liking it more too before the deluge of saison style beers on the market), $4 discounted ($6ish regular price back when in six-packs), large snifter glass. Appears golden with a clear body, and soft layer of off-white head. Floral-leathery aroma sets the stage for apricot-medicinal tart flavor. Body is medium, and drinkability is fair - decent enough, middle of the road fair. ads135 (4717) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - NOV 11, 2013
A less than average saison and one of the lesser beers from Schlafly. Grassy, dry, with some unbalanced sweetness. hotstuff (5173) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 20, 2013
Backlog rating. The Appearance is a small ivory head that mostly diminished, hazy body, no visible carbonation, spotty amounts of lacing, and a golden hue. The Aroma is malt, spice and fruity. The Taste is malty, spice, acidic, and has a dry finish. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. In conclusion, this beer is quaffable and worth trying. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2011
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear amber with about a finger of white head. Aroma of orange, bubblegum, wheat and banana. Taste is pretty much the same. Very light sweet. Light bodied with lively carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad but not that good either. Probably for the best that this one is done. dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 17, 2011
Thanks to daknole. Bottle pours orange-amber with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of grainy malt, clove, and yeast. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of toffee, apple, and pizza dough. This definately does not feel like a saison.

Bottle. Tasty little brew, but a saison? Hell no. Amber pour. White head. Caramel malt, brown sugar, very light hops. Not sure what to call it, but it is NOT a saison. hayduke (5571) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 2, 2011
Courtesy of Strykzone this poured a hazy amber with an off-white head and good lacing. Nose of caramel malts and cloves, Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is malts with some citrus. Very nice. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 22, 2010
12 oz. bottle, packaged on 08/26/2010 and consumed in November 2010. The pour yields a very lightly hazy, dark orange-amber to sienna tinted body. A small head of smooth beige foam settles to a thin but lasting blanket with a ramped up edge. Scattered, medium-sized spots of lacing mark the glass. The nose resembles a Belgian amber of sorts, showing notes of caramel, glazed bread crust, and general dark fruit esters, all along with sweet dough, Grains of Paradise, and some peppery flowers. Flavors are the same, again showing sweet, bready, caramelly malts, with complimentary notes of doughy Belgian yeast and mild dark spices. Again, I’d go Belgian amber over saison, but what do I know? The palate is medium bodied and somewhat creamy in consistency, soft nips of carbonation massaging the tongue on its way down. Not bad overall, but rather boring and unimaginative. I really like schlafly beer and until i had this particular brew i would have told you that i had yet to have a single schlafly product that I did not enjoy. That being said, this brew disappointed me. It isn’t absolutely terrible but it just is not very good. The flavors (kinda fruity with some malts) come across as sharp and forced. It also finishes strong with this big alcoholic bite at the end which is wierd for this brew only having 6% abv. Anyways if you have never had a schlafly beer, i highly recommend them, just not this one.
