4 oz pour on draft at Meridian Pint during their Schlafly Total Tap Takeover. Clear amber with off-white head. Aromas of bourbon, caramel, vanilla, light floral notes. Tastes of bourbon, caramel, vanilla, coconut, dark fruit, light floral notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Nice blend. slowrunner77 (11891) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2014
"this was a very interesting and complex beer. the aroma had a ton of oak, with some vanilla, pepper, and hoppy undertones. the body was nice, and the beer was quite a warmer as it reached the bottom. the flavor was very complex, but i do wonder if i’d have like the barleywine bourbon aged by itself a bit more than the barleywine/pale blend. i’m a hophead, but the mix of hop aftertaste with bourbon was a bit odd. not bad, just odd. overall, it was a tasty unique brew that i’m glad i got to try. from a trade with bluesandbarbq."

From notes. Tasted on 6/30/12 at the 1st Annual Chimipalooza, from bottle. Pours clear burnt orange with a thin beige head that quickly disappears. The nose is banana, caramel, and plenty of toffee, vanilla, and cinnamon barrel. The flavor is really all barrel, with a just a bit of malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a medium banana and vanilla/caramel barrel finish. chinchill (4899) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 29, 2014

Nice deep amber color with good carbonation.
Good mouthfeel: approaches 4.
Obvious bourbon, especially in tasting, but not so much as to completely overpower the nice malt base. Satisfying woody flavors from the barrel too. BBL does dominate the aroma. seymour (1980) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - SEP 21, 2013
Tasted from Troika’s Ghostbuster keg backpack at the 2013 Schlafly Hop in The City festival in a mini weiss glass. The best beer at the fest, I was glad to taste it. Deep amber with beige foam. Very malty, complex caramel and fruit notes, definite bourbon impression, some vanilla and hardwood, slight pleasant oxidation, balanced bitterness but low hoppy aromas. Medium body, low carbonation, full mouthfeel. Extremely smooth and drinkable for 8% alcohol. Really tasty.

On draft in the the tap room at the brewery in St. Louis. Pours a clear light cola with an ecru head. Light bourbon aroma with some grassy notes. Flavors of vanilla and oak. Creamy mouthfeel. Mellow finish with the slightest hint of alcohol. Chuckaduck (674) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Bottled 1/30/2013. Consumed 5/24/13. Pours translucent red-copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, wood, oak, molasses, caramel. Taste is interesting, nice, surprisingly crisp; spicy, hops, bread, oak, vanilla, alcohol (bourbon), barrel, hints of dark fruit; finish is bitter fruit rind and leather. Medium-high carbonation. Mouth feel is chewy but aggressive. No remarkable lacing. Highly successful; the blend of the two widely differing styles imparts many positive characteristics of the component beers. The barreling is also very effective here. Really nice. b3shine (8795) - Indiana, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a somewhat opaque brownish-orange with off-white lacing. Smells semi-sweet, malty, grainy, and a little doughy and boozy. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced, with an average (and somewhat thin) mouthfeel. Underwhelming.
