COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlafly Tasmanian IPA is brewed with 100% Australian hops. The Tasmanian hop, Galaxy, is a strong, aromatic variety that is different from traditional strains of the Pacific Northwest. Our brewers developed a recipe that showcases the hop’s unique flavors of citrus and pineapple.

Reviewed 3/1/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a hazy straw color. The head is a two finger white shade with a nice, creamy texture. As per usual in the style, it leaves rings of lacing as it recedes down the glass. S: I really like the tropical fruit bend this one offers. Augmenting the fruitiness is some herbal pine characteristics. Sadly, it’s nowhere near as showstopping as it could be (or probably was; the bottle’s over 2 months old), largely due to a lot of biscuity malt shining through. T: A lot of melon, mango, papaya, and guava appears at first, before spiking in intensity at the midtaste. The finish introduces a moderately bitter, peppery bite that’s almost minty at times. For a two month old IPA featuring a feeble malt backbone, this is downright fantastic. M: Light and crisp, yet with a surprising level of creaminess to meld with the smooth yet firm carbonation. The flavors leave the palate quickly as they should in an IPA of this nature. Almost supremely refreshing; if the finishing astringency was cleaned up a smidge, I’d reckon the score here would be even higher. O: The apex of this offering’s hop profile may have been lost - but the thirst-quenching, easy drinking demeanor definitely hasn’t. I’d seriously consider buying this by the case when it’s fresh and in season.

Golden color that gets cloudy with the final pour from the bottle. Tall tan/yellow head with thick lace. Citric and tropical fruit dominate the aromas. Light pale malt sweetness is quickly taken back by a dry bitterness. Acidic and somewhat juicy at the same time. Quite dry, with some herbal qualities in the finish and linger.

On tap at Schafly Bottleworks, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out dank piney hops, lots of pot, and biscuity malt. Flavour is full of pot, with lots of dank, weedy hops, loads of pine, some resinous hop oils, and biscuity malt. Oily and lightly sweet, with a dank finish. Nice stuff.

12floz bottle, BOD: 11.02.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. My memory may be off, but I recall this smelling more like tropical fruits than cannabis as it does presently. Regardless it's fine as there notes of pine, grapefruit, and black pepper to pick out too. Still tastes delectable. It's a showcase of trademark hop flavors one part juicy - tangerine and grapfruit, and one part earthy - herbs and resin. Body is medium-full and bitterness is medium-high, but not caustic. This is the one Schlafly IPA I really enjoy, and it so happens to rank up there with my personal favorites.

12 oz bottle from Siglers in Chattanooga. With a clear yellow-golden body and visible carbonation, this looks like a pilsner. The white head is somewhat weak but leaves fine lacing on the glass. Moderately bitter and aromatic for style. Complex hoppy flavor with faint malts. Tropical fruits dominate with a hint of pineapple. Medium body and medium carbonation. Lingering but mild aftertaste of Tasmanian hops.

Decent IPA, with a big citric-pine nose and a surprisingly floral back end. Starts out bright and somewhat grassy, then grows an herbaceous orange-tinted hop middle, and the finish dries out considerably without growing overly bitter. Could use a bit more IBUs, and the appearance is nothing of note, but still a drinkable IPA.

Dank and very tropical fruit aroma. Pours golden with a pillowy white head. Very big bite from the familiar galaxy hop with a strange tropical finish- like a passionfruit type taste? Little bit of grass in there too. Overall well done but not sure if I like this take on a galaxy IPA.

Bottle poured a hazy gold with a small lasting creamy white head. Aromas of biscuit, dankness, tropical fruit and light grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, dankness, grapefruit and light tropical fruit with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Draught. This is a rock solid IPA that has incredible hop aroma and bite. Grassy yet not too bitter. Well done brew.

Tap at J’s. Hazy neon straw color with a finger of foam. Big tropical fruit forward nose with some light citrus and lots of mango and peach. Clean on the palate with good carbonation. More fruit, medium to light bitterness on the finish. Solid stuff!
