Draught as Professor Doppelmalz. Sweet bready aroma. Dark brown colour. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet, slightly roasted, nicely bready. Does not taste like a low alcohol beer. No watery body, no watery finish. Good, albeit a tad sweet. renffisch (891) - london, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2008
draught 330ml at Stiftskeller Schlägl. Bouquet of quince jelly, boiled plum and germinated cereal, this beer really lives up to its name. Deep mahogany in colour with a light beige head, it is a very light malt beer and very easy to drink. Tastes very malty with notes of caramel. Quite quaffable. 500ml bottle. Pours a deep dark, mahogany red. In taste and aroma, it lives up to its name as ’Malt King’. Huge malty aroma, sweet caramel taste and a smooth finish. One for malt fans and lighter and easier to drink than a similar tasting Belgian beer. TBone (17987) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 28, 2007

Dark nut brown color, small brownish head. Papery, caramelly, perfumic, rye bread ("kvass") aroma. Light palate, caramelly malty, hints of rye - almost like drinking Finnish table beer (kalja) or kvass - just lighter!
Dusty nose (potatoes?), malty, light sweet. Mahagoni color, off-white head. Malty, light sweet some fruit and hop notes. Light sweet aftertaste with almond notes, and a short dry bitterness. All in all a quite unspectacular Dunkel, but not as sweet as others.
