COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlappeseppel Special is brewed with special malts. These malts already contain caramelized sugar. About 60 % of the quality of this beer can be traced back to this harmonic flavour. The result is an amber-coloured, full-bodied, balanced beer.

33cl bottle, served in Trappist glass. Pours dark golden with small white forthy head. Malty aroma, some plums and sugary notes. The taste lacks intensity, but one mostly gets caramel, spiciness and a slight touch of hops. Light body, good carbonation. Tolerable.

330ml fliptop from a supermercado in La Manga. Honey gold with a fine slender lid. Nose of beach mat, coinage, weak orange and conifer. Pine needle/evergreen, raffia flavour with smears of almond, honey and sherbet-sprinkled cardboard. Tired vegetable (tinned asparagus) notes. Big disappointment with no discernible German character: could easily pass as an industrial Spanish lager.

Flip-top bottle, pouredlight amber with a medium-fine head and a malty nose with hints of honey and pine. Body is initially dry with biscuit notes, then sweetening slightly with a little golden fruit and a little toasted nut, and finally lightly dry-bitter. Pleasant.

330 ml, swing top bottle, poured into an english pint glass. ABV 5.6% Very deep yellow golden colour on the body, without any activity in it. Big head, something more than two fingers, white in colour and soapy. Good retention, it left some light lacing around the glass. Heavy aroma of malts, followed by hops but very faint, even when I shook the glass a bit. Also, alcohol notes, although the ABV is not that high. Lots of malts on the taste too, along with wet hay and grass. Moderately sweet taste, becomes just a tiny bit bitter on the aftertaste. Medium thick body, good carbonation. Fairly dry on the palate. Not bad, but not that good either.
