UPDATED: JUL 1, 2005 Barnyard smell overpowers other aroma’s. Amber colored lager. Hopbitter taste. Malty and skunky. Leak. A bit thin. 4 3 4 1 8 = 2.0 Re-rate: Orange brown color, cloudy. Is my nose functioning? I can only smell a bit of malt and caramel. Malty flavor with peach. Hints of licorice and butter. Almost sweet. Hmmm, like this beer.

Mariusz (12304) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - SEP 13, 2012
Red-orange and clear with stable off-white head. Aroma is bready, mild, and fruity. The palate and flavors have some unfortunate butter but nice metallic notes.

Bottle (bought at the brewery): Pours brown with a thin, firm, lacing head, hazy; very shy malty nose, traces of milk-chocolate with sourish overtones; very slight, a bit sweetish-malty taste; low carbonated and light bodied; sourish/skunky aftertaste. NO GOOD ! Possibly infected; ’cause this skunky-sourish taste is very unusual for a rural franconian brewery. It’s a pity.........

Bottle @ Mega Bavarian Beer Tasting. Hazy, dark orange/brown appearance with an off white head. A bit bready, nutty, cracker/caramel aroma. A bit buttery, rich toffee, fairly light bodied, caramel/grassy flavor. Ehhh.

It’s dark amber with a creamy head, and the aroma has notes of malt, caramel and light syrup. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of syrup, caramel, malt, light fruit and nuts. The finish is slightly sweet and dry.

MoritzF (10199) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - NOV 20, 2012
(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a big and slightly tanned foamy head. Mildly toasted malty and doughy aroma with notes of caramel, shy bready accents and grassy hops. Moderately sweet flavour with hints of sour dough, rather light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly toasted cara-malty taste, again slightly doughy with grassy and slightly herbal hops in the background; dry and mildly bitter hoppy finish with a tinge of toasted malt. Not the best Dunkel on the planet. 13.XI.12

3.1
Quack-Duck (9540) - Down South, GERMANY - FEB 14, 2013
bottle from MoritzF! Brown colour, mid-sized off-white head. Shy malty base with a touch of caramel, low sweetness, quite dry. Hints of barnyard in the lingering finish.
