Doppelbock Dunkel has a pleasant full and creamy body, with coffeeish aroma. Nicely warming with toffeelike malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish.

Bottle, thanks Werckmeister! Clear very dark brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, chocolate, licorice, red berries, pumpernickel, light ash, dried fruit and toast. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, dried fruit, light roasted malt and light toast. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Unnecessarily high carbonation. Otherwise, pretty nice!

Rating #1272 - Rich blackbrown pour with a creamy tan head that bubbles away quickly. Aroma is roast malts, hint of chocolate and weak coffee, mild nuttiness (almond). Mild carbonation, medium-heavy alcohol warmth, little yeasty whiff as well. Palate is more malt character, nutty, chocolatey, quite bitter. Decent hoppiness - cool smokiness (almost peaty) on the finish.

33cl bottle thanks to Saeglopur, (Eurio secretsummer santa 2015) Appearance: nice deep mahogany beer with beige foam that quickly falls to a flimsy layer. Aroma: light malts, hint of fruits. Weak aroma. Taste:. Sweet Alcohol boozy upfront but mallowing out in a rich malt bouquet (roasted, caramelised malts), dark fruits kicking in and some sour notes, Then alcohol comes back and warms things out with some light coffee bitter tones finishing it off. medium body, below average carbonation. Nice rollercoaster ride with a few tricks you dont expect in the palate allthough not perfect still a beer I would highley recommend as it does things in respect of the style, but with a nice twist.

Pours a clear dark copper with ruby hues and a small but lasting white head. Aroma is plums, figs and some molasses. Flavor is same plums with burnt caramel and treacle notes. Nice bittersweet dark crystal aftertaste. Medium to heavy palate, warming and not overly boozy.

Erzengel (8512) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - SEP 25, 2015
Malty thick beginning. Malt, dark sugar, great dark think. The alcohol is not tasteable. Burned sugar, not too bitter, slightly sweetish and easy to drink. Hints of roast, burned sugar with not much bitterness in the aftertaste. A bit dry-malty bitter from the malt. Very nice!

Eggenbergs doppelbock is a nice deep mahogany beer with foam that quickly falls to a flimsy layer. The aroma is somewhat weak and limited to light malt. The taste is initially easy alcoholic, then very malty richness with a vinous and warming aftertaste revealing weak hoppy trends. Light coffee notes can be tasted in the final. A distinctly sweet bock certainly is tasty and well-brewed.
