UPDATED: AUG 2, 2013 Pours a crystal clear amber with white head. Aroma of malt . Taste of coffee, malt, and carmel. Palate is fairly smooth and drinkable. Had a previous bottle that was a bit skunky, but this one was good. Overall, not a bad doppelbock. Thumbs up.
Donkerbruin bier zonder schuim. Smaak is zoet en fruitig met iets van rozijn, bramen en kersen. Een lichte koffie smaak is eveneens aanwezig. Mooie combinatie. Bill Becker (1008) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - JAN 14, 2017
Nice looking beer. Very dark brown with an inch of slightly off white foam. Minimal lacing.
Smells of toffee, bread, dark fruits. It’s not all sweet. There’s more than a hint of bitterness.
The taste is bready, has toffee with some mild pitted fruit, kinda sweet but not when compared to the brewer’ s other offerings. To me, this is sort of bland.
Medium body, fairly light carbonation, feeling all of the 8.5% abv.
Not my favourite from this brewery. limbonicartbeer (92) - - SEP 4, 2016
Cerveza color ámbar rojizo con aromas a maltas y notas dulces. De consistencia semi-espera. Al paladar se perciben notas a maltas tostadas con final acaramelado. Muy agradable cerveza.

Bottle received in the European trade, thanks Saeglopur. Clear chestnut brown with a medium sized beige head with good retention, lace and regeneration. Caramel, roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruits in the nose. Flavour follows. Caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruits, syrup, molasses. Sweet with little bitterness, light warming alcohol. Ok, but a bit too sweet for my preference. bubblehouse (1488) - louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 4, 2016
I’m going to say first off this was an 8 year old bottle from nachbar. Need fresher bottle.

Bottle, 330ml at Aux 12 Apotres, Strasbourg, France. Dark brown with cream head. Big fruity beer, toffee, fudge notes, some sweetness, some fruity alcohol, maybe a barley wine like hint. Nice and rounded in the close Pretty decent indeed. wheresthepath (2315) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2016
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown with no head. Moderate prickly fizz and a bit sticky on the lips. Chocolate and muscavado sugar and roasty malt up front. Warming sherry-like alcohol grows with a slight woody bitterness, although it’s sweet overall. Chalk at the end with an unfortunate hint of cheap lager. Finishes less well than it starts, but still a decent beer. Sdaniel90 (1080) - Mexico City, MEXICO - APR 11, 2016
Bottle, 33cl. Deep reddish with a frothy to minimal tan head. Aromas of dried fruits, roasted malts, alcohol. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Moderate to heavy sweet roasted character with moderate bitterness into a complex fruity and alcohol finish. Very pleasant. Lore (2664) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 9, 2016
ruby to mahogany colour, moderate sized creamy yellowish-beige-ish head; aroma of caramel, biscuits, dried fruits like figs and raising, herbal and medicinal notes and spicy alcohol; taste is the same with syrupy sweetness; good, although not easily drinkable rouhlas (3584) - GREECE - MAR 3, 2016
330 ml bottle. Dark cooper brown color with off white to light beige head. Malty aroma, light grainy notes in the beginning, caramel, light bready, fruity, dark dried fruits, light vinous, some chocolate notes when it gets warmer. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma with some alcoholic notes addition. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation. It becomes quite good when it gets warmer and breaths for some time.
