330 ml bottle as “Magalotti 1845” bought at Fürstenberg in Tsuen Wan.
Clear golden orange colour; Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing with slight carbonation; Sweet aroma of lager malt, with light honey, strong mustyness, sugar, caramel, very light nuts and light yeast; Mid to light sweet taste of malt, with sugar, light honey, very light alcohol, bread, dough, biscuits, very light lemon, faint bitter hops and very light grass; Mid to light body. Dry and sluggish palate; Mouth feel is skewed German Heller Bock - thick sluggish body with somehow thin, not very fulfilling maltyness, which has slight showing of Munich nuttiness, but really meagre. Sugar sweet, not cloying but quite uneasy, rounded with quite bready biscuity taste. Sigh… Hoppiness is no nose. Light lemon and thin grassy hops in taste. Bitterness is barely detectable, mostly sweet malt finish; Quite dry after taste; Sweet and sluggish to mouth.
Comments: This is a sub-standard Heller Bock, which has most of the attributes for the style but manifested either poorly or inadequately. Sweet taste, musty nose, sluggish palate, no Munich maltyness summed it up. In short: forget it.
One of the hoppiest beers I found in Austria. Higher alcohol content, but quite drinkable.

Bottle 0, 50L. Clear, golden colour with lively visible carbonation and smooth, white head. Medium strong yeasty aroma with some grassy hops, caramel and straw malts. Taste starts sweet with some fruit and also alcohol note, turns to moderate bitter, than finish sweet again. Average bock. inbirraveritas (1611) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 2, 2013
Clear golden colour, small white head, soft carbo.
Clean aroma lead by honey and sugar underpainted by alcohol and hints of grassy hops.
Mouthfeel is slick, rather thin.
Finish is somewhat corny sweet, warming and short escorted by some hops again.

Beergeek23322 (2643) - Chester, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2013
July 2010. Golden orange with a white head. Caramel and sweet aromas. Malty flavors with hops and caramel. Not my favorite. floydian1 (1490) - FNQ, Australia, - APR 12, 2013
330ml bottle as "Birra Magalotti 1845". Bright golden pour with loose white head and scanty lace. Nose is honey sweet malts and faint spicy hops. Taste is similar to the nose with a medium body and carbonation. Rather too sweet for my taste but ok. WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - JAN 25, 2013
Advent Calendar #16. Golden, no head. A bit of ethanol to the nose and taste, otherwise what you’d expect from a heavy helles, I guess, with slight noble hops, pepper, and DMS. Yeast seemed clean. Finish wasn’t offensive, just a little bitter. My friend said it tasted like a heavy Budweiser. olsvammel (7289) - Örebro, SWEDEN - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle from a friend. Smell of corn, honey and sugar. Similar taste with a boozy finish. Tasted like a regular industrial lager but with more ABV. Too thin to carry the flavours.
