A traditional bock-beer-speciality of Castle Eggenberg. This beer is brewed only seasonally and therefore available during Christmas and Easter holidays. Careful and slow fermentation and maturation make Festbock a desired beer not only in Austria but also in Italy, where it is exported in 30 lt. kegs.

330ml bottle. Clean, clear amber with a deep white ehad that sits proudly . Hard to detect distinguishable aromas, mild and almost non-existent.. Strong medicinal perfume flavour that leaves an impression on the palate. Okay without being exceptional.

Bottle of Magalotti in Lago Garda, Italy. Quite enjoyed this. Nice gold body with medium head. Corny nose. Nice taste of malts, caramel and toffee. A bit watery but fine in consistence.

Another Eggenberg bock - and I usually like those. As Magalotti. Pale golden colour. Rich pale malt aroma with light caramel. Good malt character on the palate. Soft malts...I can’t say it’s complex but I like it.3

As Magalotti 1845 Bock. Bottle shared by lgklotet. Bright gold. Nice color with scant head. Smells oxidized. Toasted corn character in the aroma. Corny flavor is annoying yet the beer still has a good character and solid construction. Can tell it has seen better days.

1 liter fliptop bottle, bought in a Billa, Austria.
Poured clear golden with a nice white head that diminishes slowly to a lacing one. Aroma of malt and sourish yeast, some vanilla, minimal fruity character. Medium bodied one with an average lager character of sourish yeasts, malt, some harsh hop. Minimal fruity taste of peach and rasins, sweet vanilla. Neutral lager aftertaste. I expected more.

Bottle (labeled Birra Magalotti 1845 Bock). Light orange with a dense white head. Quite high bead. Light malt aroma with some oranges. Tastes sweet and rather metallic at first. Finishes dry and fairly bitter. Holds the alcohol very well. There’s real complexity hiding there too - earthy stickiness. Much better than the first few sips suggest.

33 cL bottle, as Birra Magalotti 1845 Bock, courtesy of fuijilin. Pours clear and golden orange with a dense creamy and white head. Aroma is malty, light caramelish. Sweet, malty, fruity and light metallic flavoured. Bitter and dense caramelish into a bitter and medium dry finish.

As Magalotti 1845
Deep blond color. Mild aroma of straws and honey. Sweetish malt flavor, correct bitterness, some alcohol presence. Boozy.

Bov (13354) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2010
courtesy of fiulijn - clear golden-bronze colour with a fast vanishing foam; frothy cardboardand notes of apples; very sweet and medium to full-bodied, slightly oily with a sweetish aftertaste of oranges and alcohol - not terrible
