GoufCustom (1705) - HONG KONG - JUN 3, 2014

330 ml bottle bought at Frstenberg in Tsuen Wan.

Clear amber honey colour; One-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Small sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation; Aroma of amber malt, with potent whiskey, light smoke, molasses, caramel, musty, light bread and faint grass; Mid to light sweet taste of amber malt, with light smoke, thin liquor, caramel, molasses notes, light earth, dry bread, faint lemon and shades of grassy hops; Close to light body, dry and thin palate; Mouth feel is pretty full amber malt in a rather light body, with strong dry caramel licks like a ESB. Light sweet, some initial liquor and smoky tastes that faded quickly. Quite bready all the way. As empty as typical Amber lager can be. Sigh Hoppiness is faint grass nose, very thin lemon and grassy taste; Bitterness in very low-fi for a very thin and abrupt grassy astringent finish; Dry after taste, quite easy and bready to mouth.

Comments: This one used to be at abv 7.3%? I wish it should been kept that way because without stronger booze - whiskey-like or not - this is just another average Amber Lager. Throw in a bit of smoky peated malt aroma and faint taste isnt enough to make it decent. The musty nose is quite annoying. Better than most macro Amber Lagers, but thats not good enough. Meh!

Pretty terrible really, not sure why they bothered to make it. The one good thing about it i guess is it looks clear.

bottle, thanks baerwaldt - must admit i didnt realise at the time that there was a newer version of this. alas, it resembles the old one - amber, cheap whisky aroma, rough sweaty malt with raw sweetness

Kita (1949) - Koper, SLOVENIA - DEC 16, 2013
Bottled, 0.33l. Clear amber color with small creamy white head, fair lacing and soft visible carbonation. Aroma of caramel, vegetables, dandelions, bread and vanilla. Tastes of light sweet caramel and biscuit malt and moderate herbal bitterness at finish. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Not so special as expected, but good enough to drink it easily...

Wellll its not red (more bronze) and as far as the whisky malts are concerned I aint tastin em. I was pretty disappointed overall. The aroma lead me to believe I was getting something more than what would come. A very dry lager with very faint malt flavor. The aroma has some alcohol and smoky malt to it, but none of that comes out in the flavor. Hmm, this one is a dud.

Geruch nach Eiche, leicht suerlich. Auch nach schwarzem Tee/Bergamotte und Zitroneneistee. Geschmack dann leicht holzig mit Vanille.
