COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlsschen-Hrlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Clear dark amber beer with small beige fading head. Typical aroma of rye bread. Taste is sherry, cognac, brown sugar and nuts. Very flavourfull. Nice carbonation and a full yet thin body. Very pleasant surprise this very special beer. Makes you think youre drinking a carbonated desert wine.

Beery Christmas from Saveur Bire, the beer from December 6th. Brew from 2015. This might be the best beer from this box till now. The bottle looks beautiful as well. If you have it in your hands, you know you hold on to something special. A beer that takes this much effort into making their bottles look good must be a good beer. This reflects to the beer. The looks are beautiful. In the dark, the beer looks almost dark. In the light, a beautiful quite light reddish brown color is shown. The beer looks very clear. Only a few bubbles can be seen rising towards the top. The beer is quite still. On top of the beer, a small rough layer of off white foam is formed. All of the foam collapses over the course of minutes, leaving no drape at all. However, for this type of beer that isnt weird. The smell of the beer is superb. It has so manny layers. There are things that remind me of both barley wine and doppelbock. The barleywine smell is logical, the beer is aged for 10 months. This gives the beer a lovely creamy aroma, filled with rather sweet dark chocolate, ref fruits, dark caramel, liquorice, all different but delicious aromas that get a sweet, soft delicate touch because of the ageing process. The aromas themselves are those of a doppelbock. The beer is very warming, and a nice warming alcohol smell can be sensed. The balance is beautiful. The beer is very sweet, but there is a delicious balancing bitterness and a hint of red fruit sourness. It is so nice. Its somehow familiar and extremely special in the same time. The advice on the beer label to drink the beer wile eating a piece of chocolate is gold. The chocolate really enhances the sweet aromas and tastes. Talking about tastes, the beer tastes perfectly. Its one of the best beers Ive ever had. it definitely is the best doppelbock Ive ever had. There is so much going on in the smell, my god. There is a sweet liquorice flavour, sweet red fruits, sweet and bitter caramel, bitter chocolate, some toast barley with a certain bitterness and a delicate balancing sour twist of the red fruits. The alcohol aroma is strong but delicious and truly gives depth to the taste. The alcohol also contributes to the palate. The alcohol gives a warming, stinging feeling to the beer. There isnt a lot of gas in the beer, but it totally fits the beer. The lack of tingling gas is more than enough compensated by the alcohol of the alcohol. 14% is a lot of alcohol, but it doesnt overhand this beer. Perfectly!

Bready aroma, sweet malty initially with yeasty finish. Moderately carbonated, robust mouth. Sweet and strong beer without a lot of that unpleasant overly strong sweetness.

Bottle. Sensoric. Dark amber/burn orange, clear with tiny head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is heavy, really heavy. First of all its packed with malts - mainly caramel with candy/brown sugar, lightly toffee notes. Secondly there is intense aroma of dark fruits - raisins and dried plums, some figs. Lightly boozy in the background with some vinous notes. Taste is sweet and constant in the end the beer is slightly bitter with moderate alcohol warming. Full body, sticky and thick texture, lively carbonation, finish is fruity (plums) with strong candy-like backbone, slightly broken by bitter notes. This beer is simple - heavy, sugary malts with intense aroma of dark fruits, but everything is well balanced and appears in the right moment during degustation. All that goodies cover high ABV content well. In general very good beer for cold winter nights.

Bottle, 4 years old. Aroma is like a port wine, with ripe fruit, raisin, boozy malt and caramel. Heavy sweet taste of thick sweet malt, ripe red fruit, boozy oak and a long warming boozy fruity finish. I like this quad-doppelbock-port stuff.
