The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlsschen-Hrlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Bottle bought from France and shared by my cousin courez - thanks buddy! Pours amber and clear, with no head or lacing. Aroma of blue cheese (kudos to toffsbury for putting his finger on it), caramel, raisins, and booze. Taste is sweet malt. Maybe some cola too? Light carbonation, thick body. Not bad, but a bit 1-dimensional.

Bready aroma, sweet malty initially with yeasty finish. Moderately carbonated, robust mouth. Sweet and strong beer without a lot of that unpleasant overly strong sweetness.

Beery Christmas #06. 33cl bottle at home. Appearance: clear chestnut brown with medium eggshell white head. Aroma: sirup, raisins, brown sugar alcohol and a trace of ethyl acetate. Taste: High sweetness with medium bitterness. Notes of sirup, brown sugar, cinnamon and fruits. Palate: medium bodied, sticky texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle. Sensoric. Dark amber/burn orange, clear with tiny head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is heavy, really heavy. First of all its packed with malts - mainly caramel with candy/brown sugar, lightly toffee notes. Secondly there is intense aroma of dark fruits - raisins and dried plums, some figs. Lightly boozy in the background with some vinous notes. Taste is sweet and constant in the end the beer is slightly bitter with moderate alcohol warming. Full body, sticky and thick texture, lively carbonation, finish is fruity (plums) with strong candy-like backbone, slightly broken by bitter notes. This beer is simple - heavy, sugary malts with intense aroma of dark fruits, but everything is well balanced and appears in the right moment during degustation. All that goodies cover high ABV content well. In general very good beer for cold winter nights.

Bottle, 4 years old. Aroma is like a port wine, with ripe fruit, raisin, boozy malt and caramel. Heavy sweet taste of thick sweet malt, ripe red fruit, boozy oak and a long warming boozy fruity finish. I like this quad-doppelbock-port stuff.

A perfectly clear dark amber beer with little to no head. Nose has very sweet malty aromas with sherry, caramel, prune and raisin notes. Taste is sweet with some bitterness that lingers on the palate and balances out the sweetness. Medium carbonation and very rich mouthfeel. Well made and balanced for such a heavy beer. Nice maltiness and complexity.

2014 bottle poured into a tulip glass. Burnt caramel color with a small white head that quickly disappears. Nose is sweet and cloying, taste is very similar. I was very disappointed in this one. The alcohol burn wasnt as bad as I expected, but the taste was horrible. This tasted like a sweet wine and/or beer gone wrong....PASS!

Clear dark ruby colour, tan light head that fades away in a second. Sweet aroma, hints of molases, nuts, caramel, malt and BOOZE, lots of it. Strong and sweet taste, malty sensation, strong (really strong) alcohol taste, something like licorice. Nice aftertaste, always on the alcoholic sensation, but a very pleasent one. Medium body, soft carbonation, thick texture. A really good doppelbock if you like strong beers. Stay away from it if you dont like sweet flavors.
