Bottle pour into tulip glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Appearance is clear ruby red with fizzy off-white(?) head that lasts about as long as the initial flash when you light a match. Minimal sparkle and no lacing. Aroma is candied sugar, dark fruit and malts trying to conceal astringent alcohol. Taste is very sweet candied sugar and dark fruit over alcohol you can feel as much as taste. Palate is medium bodied with silky texture, flat carbonation and sweet, sugary finish. Warming to the mouth, esophagus, and later stomach with a slight numbing of the lips. Overall, an experience to be sure. Very sweet dessert beer, more like a liqueur, that’s a good sipper. Ar: Deeply vinous; figs and alcohol, with a slight nail-polish hint. Ap: Deep chestnut brown, crystal-clear; Small off-white head with low retention, leaving a thin ring of foam and the slightest dusting of bubble cover. T: Very sweet, with orange and melanoidin character; a bit of sharp tanginess; alcohol is punchy, coming across with big notes of raisin and fig; sweetness and booze linger forever into the finish, with almost no perceptible bitterness. P: Full body with medium carbonation; finish is sweet. O: For a 14% abv beer, this is relatively clean; the richness and sweetness hit you like a freight train; interesting flavors, particularly the dark fruits; the sweetness is just absolutely overwhelming in this beer, to the point that it becomes cloying. vami (506) - Poznan, POLAND - MAY 6, 2017
Malts, caramel, dried fruits, lacks the desired pumpernickel melanoidin character. Very boozy, burning alcohol. L_Lovecraft (609) - - APR 27, 2017
Fruity, malty, caramel, copper with a thin white head, medium/full body, carbonation is soft, strong sweetness, fruity and caramel...very good for me, maybe too sweet. ShivanDragon (4202) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - APR 19, 2017
bottle from secret santa, thanks. pours brown/red with a limited white head. aoma of caramel, dark fruits, christmas herbs, raisins, pretty sweet. Taste is smooth, a huge amount of alcohol, raisin, way too much sugar, way too much alcohol, not that great. however if you like alcoholic christmas sugar bombs you’ll love it... i dont..

33cl-fles gekregen van mijn collega David. Merci! U: Helder amber-koperkleurig met een dunne witte schuimkraag die snel inzakt. G: Gedroogd fruit, karamel en wat vanille. S: Zeer zoet. Karamel, gedroogd fruit, kiwi en alcoholwarmte. M: Medium body met een lichte carbonatie. Qnex (29) - Bucharest, ROMANIA - APR 5, 2017
I was pretty impressed about this one. I remember i choose this one randomly from my local supermarket Auchan and i didn’t have big expectations, but as i tried first sip i changed my mind instantly. It was a rich cognac taste, wood traced, the high alcohol of 14% was well blend behind aroma. A little bit oily body with a medium carbonation.
If i find it again i will definitely buy.
Bottle 330ml Kauge (1974) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 26, 2017
Bottle from LCBO. Bottled in 2015. BB 09.2021. Mahogany. No head. Superb thick malty aroma with molasses and faint spicy notes. Flavour malty sweet, just slightly boozy, somewhat dry delicate grains in finish. Fine modest carbonation, soft and full, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Some bitterness builds up after a while. The massive 14% is super well disguised. Absolutely awesome. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Wish we had such Bocks available in Estonia... Why didn’t I get more bottles... 90 (507) - BELGIUM - MAR 23, 2017
Mondgevoel is warm. In de afdronk een licht zuurtje. Acaro (241) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAR 13, 2017
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2017 Aroma: Caramel. Not subtle, very strong.
Appearance: Nice dark red color with hazy liquid and minimal (non existent) head.
Taste: Heavy sweetness, hidden light bitter notes.
Palate: Full body with oily sticky texture and flat carbonation. Long strong astringent sweetness that stays in the memory forever.
Overall: Not my cup of tea. It is said to be the strongest beer in the world. I have tried. I understand it is a good beer, but not for me. If you like cognac this can be your beer. Good points: nice aroma, no alcohol flavour in any moment (but you feel how strong it is).
