One of the best Austrian beer i’ve tried. It’s a doppelbock beer; however its palate is lighter as expected. Roasted malt and brown sugar caramel notes compensated by the hops.

Sweet honey aroma. Gold appearance. The head is not staying a lot. Honey strong taste. This could be a honey beer. But very nice body and palate.

vinivini (2444) - Gomel, BELARUS - JUL 2, 2016
Amber, clear, moderate head. Vinous, fruity aroma. Similar taste. Sherry. Very dense body. Very good.

Cloudy, little more orange than pale yellow. Strong taste with a high ABV. I didn’t find the 9.6% to be as overwhelming as other higher ABV beers, but this isn’t that good and I took my time at it. It was a good beer to sample, but not make a staple.

Bottle. Clear golden-orange color with small head that goes down quickly. Aroma is pale malts, straw, corn, honey, marzipan. Taste is straw and corn, honey, honeycomb, sweet, heavy and boozy finish. High, nearly fizzy carbonation - the force-carbonating does not really help this beer. Some aspects of this beer go into a Malt Liquor, but the depth for a non-yeasty pale Bock of this immense strength is quite applaudable. The booziness is also not haunting, it fits. A beer one should have tried at some point (why did I wait so long?), but I am not the biggest fan of ultra-strong pale beers.

330 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. I got this bottle from Horst when he traveled back home to Austria. Thanks! The pour is a darker golden orange with a thin run of khaki colored head and a few good spots of lace. The aroma is very fruity and floral. It’s surprising. The malts are there, but it just doesn’t do anything that I would expect from a dopplebock. It’s too bright and not malty and dark enough. It should be something. The flavor is really something that you can’t expect. It’s got a hot bitterness from the hop right up front, but then it’s got the malts and decent flavors of a run of the mill dopplebock. The finish is very resin-based and bitter. The malts try, but it’s too much to cut through. It’s got a little booze, and a definite sweetness toward the back end before the bitterness rolls in. The mouth feel is pretty decent. There is a nice medium body and a decent carbonation that really help out here. The aftertaste is all bitter resin and a little bit of sweet malt. It’s really interesting, and nothing like you’d expect.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 Bottle shared with koleminer20. For the book. Aroma is quite fruity, oranges, caramel, malt, sweet in a way I didn?t expect, spice, decent. Appearance is copper, off white head, clear. Taste is bitter malts, caramel, toffee, hot, booze, weird and not anything of what I expected. Mouthfeel is medium body, light but effervescent carbonation, a crazy bitter malt aftertaste that coats the whole mouth. Overall, this one is pretty damn weird, but drinkable.

Kan ikke tilføje noget særligt i forhold de tidligere anmeldelser, da jeg er enig med dem. En god øl at slutte aften af med!

Schwer, voller Süße. Läßt an Marzipan denken. Belgisch!? Weizenbock!? Weinlastig!?

A lot to love here, as a Samischlaus lover, i hadn’t tried this one, and wasn’t aware it was from the same brewery. If you ever tried Samischlaus, well, there’s a lot of similarity of course (It works the same on the other way). Strong caramel aroma for a quite heavy taste overall, everything I like, and i’ve been very pleased. Best served with some dry sausage to come along of course. APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW !
