Bottle at home. Taste is sweet, malt and spiced finish, quite good, not my favourite in the style Oleg85 (226) - Yaroslavl, RUSSIA - SEP 12, 2017
Прекрасный карамельный вкус. Что-то между петушками и дюшесом. Алко не выпирает. Mister_Li (1527) - GERMANY - SEP 1, 2017
Klares Gold mit relativ wenig Schaum. Malzig, süß, etwas Honig, Vanille, leicht ölig, würzig, alkoholisch. mariuszek (1470) - Gdynia, POLAND - AUG 31, 2017
Clear, dark golden, medium head. Sweet malty and grainy aroma. Full bodied, medium carbonation, sweety, malty taste, alcohol well hidden.
Olorin (53) - Graz, AUSTRIA - JUL 14, 2017
330 ml bottle. Clear pale amber colour, small head with hardly any durability, low lacing, soft carbonation. Nose is sweet malt, raisins, peaches. Flavour is heavily sweet, syrup-like, again interesting fruity notes of peaches, honey, strong alcoholic. Finally there is some bitterness in the medium long finish. Quite heavy, indeed a "Cognac of beers". Sharing a bottle for two is recommended! Grumbo (3729) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUL 1, 2017
Bottle from a now unrecalled source. Poured amber with an average sized off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, hop and yeast. Quite high sweetness, light bitterness. Medium to full bodied, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. nephirem (598) - CROATIA - JUN 26, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Clear golden pour, very thick looking. One finger creamy off-white head with pretty good retention. Intensively sweet nose. Heavily malty with lots of caramel.
Medium to full body, softly carbonated. Thick, oily texture. Taste pretty much follows the nose - very, very sweet. Cloying, even. Aroma is heavily malty. Caramel, candy, sugary syrup. Molasses. Alcohol. Lots of alcohol. Despite all the excess sweetness, alcohol is not hidden at all. Sure, the ABV is quite high, but still... Poorly balanced.
Overall, not much of a doppelbock. Feels more like an imperial pilsner, and not particularly good one at that. Sugary alcohol bomb rather then the beer. Some might like it, but this one just isn’t up my alley. Icedwarf (1758) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - JUN 5, 2017
Donkergeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is krachtig, zoet en warm met iets van cognac, rozijn en marsepein. In eerste instantie best goed maar gaat na enige tijd toch iets tegenstaan.
