OG 1054/44 IBU/5.3% ABV A smooth drinking ale, with the sweetness of the girl next door - hiding a darker and bitter side. Overall malty character with a Northern Brewer bite to even the taste.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish/orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.3%. Overall this is a nice standard amber ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Well round malt complexity with just enough earthy hops to balance. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle: Body darker than amber. Kind of copper-ish with a strong red hue throughout. Off-white head quickly settles to a small ring. Aroma includes heavy CaraMunich malts, gummy toffee, toast, sulfur, & some herbal grassy notes. Flavor is not sweet like the nose indicates. It’s very thin, vapid, astringent, & just strange. Metallic, light dry caramel powder, staleness comes in the finish. Hint of earthy hop in the finish, but this whole thing is just a mess. Pass.

Frank (4194) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 31, 2014
This is the malt-forward style of amber. It is supper cloudy in the glass, red brown, with a small head of fine bubbles. Nose is all toffee-like malt, some earthy hops and a touch of spice I assume comes from the yeast. It is a bit sweet but light enough that it doesn’t cloy. There is just a touch of hops to balance and this finishes with a light herbal bitterness and some lingering sweetness. This is definitely one of the better brews from this brewery. If it had the same amount of malt flavor and was a little less sweet and more bitter, it would be great.

bottle. Amber with small head. Caramel malt and the signature Schmohz blend of off flavors. Rather awful.

Same shit different name. Same malt extract flavor with a hint of attempted hops. Same amber looking color but lucky enough this is supposed to be an amber beer.

Onslow (1495) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - OCT 16, 2013
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Slightly cloudy mid tone brown ale with off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, roasted malt, a little nuttiness. Taste follows the aroma - sweet malts balanced with roasted, nutty, a slight dryness in the finish but little hops character. Many characteristics of a brown ale. Nice on a cool evening.

Pours a dark red. Small head that disappears quickly. Nice taste, malty and sweet. Good amber, can’t wait to try it on tap. A Royal Flush Girl would never talk to me.

Beautiful, enticing, red head who fascinates and flirts, then delivers bountiful glory. Wonderful.

Bottle. Very sour, medium body, a little cloudy, light head. The sour taste surprised me as I was expecting a more std amber.
