Appeared a dark amber with a white head. Smelled like pear or apple juice with a bit of hop. Mouth feel was medium bodied and the taste was not per usual IPA. It tasted juicy with a small hop finish. Too much alcohol in the flavor. walleye (1102) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - AUG 3, 2012
poured a reddish brown with a tan head. aroma malts caramel brown sugar toffee, very little hops. flavor. a strange sweetness at the beginning than some malt, chocolate alcohol. I would not have thought that this was a ipa mcorneil138 (7) - West olive, Michigan, USA - JUL 12, 2012 does not count
For being a 9.5% its doesnt have to strong of an alcohol taste. This does have a very nice bitter hop flavor. Overall this is a good beer for the price. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - JUL 8, 2012
Pours a very dark amber color with a small head that lingers. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, and licorice. Kind of odd for an IPA. Taste is odd as well. Pretty malty and fruity, more like an American Strong Ale. The flavor is decent. The hops show up in the finish, piney and grassy. Not a very good Imperial IPA. beerdogforyou (7) - - JUN 2, 2012 does not count

Bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel, citrus hops, infection, and herbs. Very dark ruby amber hue with an average off-white head that left good lace. Flavor is very sweet and heavy bitterness. Palate is very full bodied and heavy bitterness. Overall a disappointment. demitriustown (1192) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - DEC 8, 2011
12 oz bottle: Very resin laden, but an awesome hop aroma all around almost candy-like but in a good way. Appearance is a amber with a medium to low head that diminishes to a soapy film. Taste is weird...almost yeasty. Yes, yeasty. but big on the hops is a good thing. Palate has got a nice hop characteristic. Overall, for an Impy IPA decent. Cheers! UPDATED: DEC 5, 2011 Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Darker brown brew - color like a cola - with frothy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma - hmmm... we have fruit - peaches a day or two too ripe, a little apricot; we have lightly roasted malt, a bit of brown sugar, a little dark fruit and aromatic hops. Ethanol is not present as a unique aroma but it certianly adds a lot of life to the bouquet. Taste is sweet lightly roasted malts at the start, peachy fruit throughout, with a modest hoppiness in the finsih and a lingering caramel malt taste. Strong stuff but not a hint of booziness in this. This is really good! But I’m scratching my head wondering - I can’t imagine that this is 130 IBU, it is slightly sweet and not too hoppy IMO. It does not look like an IPA (imperial or otherwise) and does not smell or taste like one. If I hadn’t read the label I would peg it as an American Strong Ale and a damn fine one at that. Well, whatever... I’ll buy it again, it is great. dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - SEP 19, 2011
brown, small off white head, lacy. nose of malt and nail polish. flavor has some bitter hops and lots of smooth malt. medium bodied, light bitter finish. not very enjoyable. mostly a disappointment.
