Bottle from Tiffany’s in Kalamazoo. Pours very un-filtered (to the point of chunky) deep reddish/brown with 1-finger foamy beige head. Actually looks like a brownish raspberry jam with the floaters...not sure if that’s a good thing....actually, not sure if using the word ’floaters’ in my beer rating is a good thing. Nose is pretty weak...some faint fruity malt and rich dry hops. Flavor is full and WARM, hits the tongue and moth all over instantly with a biting punch of carbonation and alcohol. Hops are mellowed (from the one I got anyway) and malty/breadiness is taking over, but the abv is ever apparent and almost seems to screw things up a big. Very BIG feel from this one, definitely take it slow. Overall not as bad as I was expecting, but flavor wise much room for improvement. coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - DEC 5, 2009
Bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a dense head and lots of garbage floating on top. Flavor is very weak for an IIPA... a bit of caramel and apple, wine or brandy. Flavor has much of the same stuff going on... lots of boozey medicinal alcohol, odd fruits and very little hops presence. yuck... thehoff (598) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 14, 2009
Dark reddish brown beer with quarter inch tan head. Smells of molasses and raisin. Odd and almost sickly sweet. Floral finish, Smooth but not at all what I was expecting. I thought it would be more hops forward. It seems a bit more malty for me. Kind of one dimensional. Definitely has alcohol though. Bottle. Pours a dark tarnished penny color with a dense head and lots of junk swimming around on the carbonation. Flavor is very weak for an IIPA... a bit of caramel and apple, wine or wine grapes and a little brandy. Flavor has much of the same stuff going on... lots of booze (almost like rubbing alcohol at times), odd fruits and very little hops presence. Hmm... Pretty dark brown as 2IPAs go. Aroma of caramel and hops. Flavor is pretty malty, this flirts with being a barleywine, a pretty thin barleywine. Not bad, all in all, not something I’d seek out again, though.

Alot of hops, burning sensation from all the alcohol. Great label. Better on draft than bottle, best beer they make. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - SEP 7, 2009
A beer about boobs. Ok, I can support that. Hmm, Hazy reddish pour, caramelly, hop aroma. Flavor has a lot of butter, newspaper, cat litter. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe this one. milewide (2250) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2009
Draft at Hop Cat, Grand Rapids, MI. Some alcohol taste, with malt sweetness. Enough hops to make it a DIPA. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2009
Bonus beer shared by Dave at the Sam Adams Beer Lover’s choice tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7/30/09. Cloudy brown pour with a thin off-white head. Caramel malt aroma with some booze and the slightest bit of hop. Smells more like a bock or a b-wine than an IIPA. Caramel malt flavor with a dry hop finish. Sample at the Sam Adams beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 07/30/09. The beer is a mostly clear light orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the cup. Mild hops aroma with touches of malt and citrus. Medium, clean body with hops and bready malt flavors. The finish is moderately hoppy and short. Overall an okay IPA, and a below average IIPA.
