12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red/brownish color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, tobacco, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, tobacco, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, tobacco, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and minimal hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.3%. Overall this is a nice ESB style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAR 12, 2015
Bottle: Huge hiss when popping the cap, no gushing, though. Pours a chestnut brown color with a fucken obnoxiously huge ecru head that takes about six years to whittle down to a drinkable level. Aroma of herbal & peppery hops, wood chips, pipe tobacco, burnt toast, ash, a hint of tart prune. Heavily herbal, woodsy, & earthy flavor with that strong leafy tobacco note flowing throughout. This tastes like I would imagine a cigar humidifier would taste if it was an edible thing. But it’s not. For a reason. Dirty finish, bitter & borderline abrasive with a heavy hand of burnt toast & scorches nuts alongside the charred tobacco. Not completely awful, but definitely weird as fuck. bpar73 (1179) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - AUG 17, 2014
Sample at Suds on the Shore. Amber pour with a white head. Caramel and sweet malt in the aroma and taste. Ok brew, a good deal better than the mega brew crap, for sure. Frank (4235) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 30, 2014
I’d probably call this an American amber as much as a bitter but, whatever, close enough. It pours a slightly cloudy brownish amber. It’s head is rocky and of mixed bubbles and a bit of lace sticks to the side of the glass. It smells like malt syrup with a touch of sourdough yeastiness. This is rather sweet w/ an exaggerated maltiness--lots of raisin specifically. It mildly carbonated and rather thick on the palate, which makes it just a touch heavy. Finish is quick w/o much bitterness which makes it come off just a bit watery in the end. There is no date anywhere on this bottle but I suspect it might be a little long in the tooth--though I did buy it in the summer and it is a summer seasonal. Then again, they might just have oxidation problems in the packaging process. Either way, this is OK in the bottle but might be better at the brewery. rumproasts (6035) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 7, 2014
bottle. Amber with small head. If you gave me ten guesses as to what this was, ESB would not have been one of my guesses. There’s some malt and hops, but it doesn’t come together in any cohesive way.

Went down the line at the brewery and came across another below average beer... sweet malty... All there beers have an odd after taste and are a little thin BlowOffTube (515) - Michigan, USA - FEB 6, 2014

An ok ESB. Easy drinking, not too bitter with a touch of malty sweetness. A decent beer. hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 10, 2013
12oz bottle. Poured an amber color with a white head. Caramel with some lighter fruitiness. Sammy (12740) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 6, 2013
More of an English malty beer with some hops, not up to the nice bitterness of an ESB. Light red coloured. Good drinkability.
