Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2014 Brown beer, with, incredibly, a nice head.Very fruity aroma, taste is also very fruity, plum. Medium carbonation, and you can feel the alcohol very well, too much actually. A very good beer, but I have to say that 33cl are more than enough :) Edit: 26/01/2014, Bottle more than 1 year old. Brown hazy colour, almost coffee, with little head, but lacing. Very intense smell, very rich, with lots of fruity notes, better than one year ago. Taste is less intense than the aroma, with the alcohol overwhelming the other notes, imho. Very good, but somehow hard to finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Stewed fruit/berry aroma, with yeast and cloves. An opaque dark brown. Thin but creamy off-white head. Sweet at first. Then sourness develops and some bitterness. Matches the aroma, stewed fruit, berries. Heavy. Oily. A fizz of carbonation. Long, warming, finish. A great winter beer (ignoring that its spring now). Enjoyable and subtle.

Du?o banana, gumy balonowej i estrw generalnie, alkohol kojarzy mi si? z jakim? s?odkim likierem. Po ogrzaniu lekki rozpuszczalnik. Ca?kiem dobre

Bottle from The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a clear deep brown colour with a ruby tiny and a thin off white head. Aroma of plum, raisin, fig, some caramel, slight cola, a little chocolate, a hint of alcohol, subtle smoke and spice. Taste of plum, raisin, fig, some caramel, slight cola, a little chocolate, a hint of toasted malts, subtle alcohol and spice. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A long, sweet, warming, caramel and fruity finish. Malty, fruity and very complex. Sweet but the alcohol gives it a bitter bite and subtle crispness. A big, boozy beer.

Z: Banan, goździk, palony chleb, biszkopt, estry w stronę śliwki, przechodzące w wiśnie i intensywny alkohol. Bardziej w nalewkę niż ordynarny spiryt. S: Pełne, ciastko zbożowe, dalej chlebowo, słodko, śliwka finisz lekko podwędzany, likierowy. Finisz zostaje na dość długo.
