Deep and complex for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, Kaiserschmarrn (pancakes), Elisenlebkuchen (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2007 Pours a reddish brown. The first thing you notice is the aroma of fruit. Sweet malt flavor, easy going down. This is a good dinner brew. Thank you Stegosaurus Re rated after having it on draft Ludwigs

Bottle. Pours a crazy sorta purple brown with a giant creamy white head. Malty, rich rotten fruit smell of a Belgian. Flavor is really odd: grapes (those big ones you have to peel, cant think of the name now) , rotten apples, saccharine, copper, water (like the flavor of water, if that makes any sense). Really odd, but not necessarily as bad as it sounds. Man, the head stays around for ever, with really nice lacing on the side. After taste is the rotten fruit and, especially, copper. Like pennies. Mouth feel is fine, not too thin, but not as thick as the beers this is akin to. Whatever. Not ad, but feels like a poor mans Belgian.

First time I try a weizenbock. Great brown look with firm head. Delicious roasted caramel & weizen flavour with creamy and smooth end; some various fruity and nut flavour mixing in the background. Awesome!

Clear mahoganey pour. Fizzy/frothy light tan head. Aroma has prune juiced banana and slightly toasted wheat that is lightly graced by German hops. A little fizzy, but that is forgotten by the sweet, but not too sweet, prunes, banana, spices. Really good, balanced, flavorful beer.

This is an extremely balanced beer. Aromas of Fruit Cake, a little cinnamon, cloves... Lightly bitter, fantastic body, just the right feel to the palate, not to thick, not to thin... like i said... very balanced!

One bottle from BOTW. Nice off-white head that stays well. This beer is fun to drink! Fruity and caramel taste. A nice smoothness to it and a slight bitter lingering taste on the palate. Very enjoyable. Ill have again soon. I used this beer to celebrate Erica coming in 1st in the Marcus Whitman cross country invite. She is an 8th grader and won the JV division beating over 120 8th to 10th grade girls.

Pours thick and dark with a quickly disipatting head. Taste is refreshing like a hefe but has the maltiness and punch of a great doppelbock. One of my favorite

ive been looking forward to this. had it a couple years ago, but that was out of a bottle and before i knew much about beer. homogenous, large bubbles comprise a 3/4 inch head. rather plain. dark brown appearance, becomes a deep cherry brown in the light. smell is strong from afar, even when very cold. when cold, it tastes of strong malts, somewhere between dark and light fruit. reminds me of munich. way closer to a weizen than a dopple. no alcohol. as it warmed, alcohol became extremely obvious. maybe the cheese/crackers hurt it, but taste took a tremendous hit. i almost feel bad giving it a 3.6, but thats where the numbers arrive.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2007 Bottle from Uto. Told by someone that this was one of the best beers in the world. He was right. Dense dark amber in colour with a fantastic thick creamy head. Looks especially good in the appropriate, extremely phallic glass. Slightly perverse appearance when combined with the overflowing white head. Aroma similar to that of red wine and fruit bread with raisin, plum and raspberry standing out. Mmmm, a tasty snack. Immediate taste of chocolate orange evolving into cinnamon with a salty-ish edge. Nice finish of raisin bread with a slight bitterness. Only fuss is the abundant carbonation. Well balanced and brilliant!
