   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 12/20
ALLOVATE (3074) - Perth, - JUL 29, 2005
Held onto a bottle of this for quite some time (for reasons unknown) and decided it might be time to taste it. I became a little hesitant when I cracked it as it failed to pssshhhrt! Poured it into an Aventinus glass, it was relatively lifeless, raising only a thin white pad of foam, that managed to last the length. The body of beer a clean hazy gold with only the lightest amount of fine carbonation popping to the surface. Subtle spicy and grainy nose, sweet bubblegum and overly ripe bananas with a little note of tangy fruit. The aroma was quite pleasant but lacked the oomph of a good hefe, as did the flavour. Thin, watery body, light and spritzy in carbonation, it had an odd plastic feel mid-palate and a light lactic and gluggy feel in the back of the mouth, before finishing off with a short herbal and sweet swallow. Flavours were subtle with only a little of the normal bubblegum and clove-like phenols and fruity esters associated with a good example of the style. A little disappointed as I thought this may top the Weihenstephan and Spaten offerings, but it just lacked in all aspects. May be the higher alcohol content to blame for its lack of body and flavour. Still, a balanced and clean hefe-weizen that was easily quaffable.

Bottle - Honey, banana and clove. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Honey, touch of banana and clove with a sticky sweet finish.

Bottle from online beer shop. Good expiry date. Slightly cloudy yellow look. Generous and persistent white head. Aroma of banana, yeast and a bit of grass. Classic german weisse taste, but with a slightly higher carbonation and hoppiness at the end. Refreshing weisse, perfect with a pizza or pasta.

Umiarkowanie mętne, z pokaźną czapą piany i konkretnym lacingiem. W aromacie pełno banana, goździk na drugim planie i trochę mokrego zboża. W smaku wyraźny banan, goździk znowuż z tyłu, a na finiszu nieco chmielowych akcentów. Nagazowanie wysokie w stronę średniego. Gdzieś w połowie drogi między wytrawnością, a słodyczą. Zacne piwo.

Bottle from getrankemarkt (?). A cloudy orange appearance with an initial carbonation that died qutie quickly. Started very beautifully and tailed off a little to become a bit more lagery. Overall a nice beer, like a wheat lager. Thinner than most hefeweizen. Nice and refreshing.

Honey and molasses, though this only provides a subtle, smooth sweetness. Quite floral with a bit of the typical bock malt taste. Smooth, medium bod. Amber in color and very clear in both appearance and taste. Pretty much no head.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2017 Banana and wheat malt in the aroma, taste and after. Ok but not as good as 5 or 6. Btw abv is 8.2 not 6.2 as described above.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2017 0.5L from bottle at Katzenjammers. Surprisingly fresh Weiss beer, with notes to citrus and especially lemon. Nicely brewed, and slightly hoppy as well.

On bottle @Ølfred - Aarhus Streetfood.

Pours red-ish dark. Smokey scent, nice white top. Lots of co2, soft and creamy.
Notes of pine and grass.

Niets mis mee. Vol, warm, rond en een prettige afdronk. Ik ga zo hefe weizen nog echt waarderen.
