3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Crown-capped champagne bottle – decants a lightly clouded light gold colored weizen in my glass. Decent puffy 2 finger cap lasts and laces. Light effervescence. Aroma is fairly modest but there is a defined wheat malt-fruit-clove aroma with an underlying vinous quality. Fairly sort moth with a light fluid character. Flavor is also demure but this is part of the intended character of this unique weizen – front side has the appearance of the standard Hefeweiss flavors, the clove phenols, banana-fruity esters and a light citrus presence – mid palate is where this beer becomes unique – instead of the standard hop bittering you get a mild tartness like raw white grape skin, not over powering but definitely present and this makes the finish not so dry but much like a white wine spritzer – fluid, tart but not puckering dry like most wiezens. Absolutely no hint of the alcohol in it. If this was the profile/character the brewer was attempting to produce, they succeeded in spades. Many will say this is a weak weizen bock but this ignores is unique mildness and vinous qualities.
Bottle. Hazy orange beer with average to large, rocky, white head. Aroma of grape, white wine, spice, clove, light banana and citrus. Taste is light+ sweet and light to medium bitter, of grape, white wine, yeast, spice, clove, banana, citrus, orange and light pepper. Spicy and fruity finish. Medium body and carbonation. Highly drinkable. Very good, complex and surprisingly refreshing weizenbock. TaxiDriver (1830) - Stadland, GERMANY - NOV 10, 2017
A strong smell of grapefruit and vanilla, also some aroma of bananas. The white creamy head has a normal size and duration. The body is cloudy and orange. A light fruity smell, a little bit bitter, a light taste of wine. The body is light and dry with a lively carbonation. YantarCoast (1512) - Moscow, RUSSIA - NOV 6, 2017

2017 version bottle @ home. Hazy yellow to orange with a nice medium sized, dence white head. Smells sweet, hops, wheat, malty, yeast, grassy. Tastes sweet, fresh, floral, grassy, hoppy and speculaas. I somehow get a brown sugar/pepernoten/cinnamon taste. Like a light pumpkin ale. It's probably just me and not the beer, but I can't explain it. Used a clean glass. Medium body, nice carbo.

Nuta białego wina, odrobina cytrusów, drożdże i goździki w zapachu i smaku. Delikatne wysycenie, goryczka zbilansowana słodyczą. Eleganckie, ciekawe, ale niczego nie urywa.

2017 Ed from 375ml MHD2022, Maruhn. - Suavely integrated composition, integrating fresh green grape jelly into young banana wheat compote with enough phenolic side artifice to keep it interesting enough for a near sessionable Weizenbock. Not the most expressive aroma, condensing those Nelsons into something sweeter than fresh grapes, going on canned gooseberry. Nice dryness works well with the underlying current of spicy (nutmeg and white pepper) wheat tapioca porridge. Calisky (3059) - ALSACE, FRANCE - OCT 17, 2017
Bottle from Asahiya. Nose of bananas, citrus, some caramel, spicy yeast, and a bit of pepper. Hazy deep amber/orange color, with a thick compact white head. Very wheaty (duh!), light banana, , touch of citric acid, and a pinch of pepper. Medium body. Doesn't really provide much Nelson Sauvin character (maybe the wheat notes eat it up?). Great nose. A bit mild mannered for a weizen book, but very well made and tasty. sharkydodson (1801) - St. Petersburg, RUSSIA - OCT 14, 2017
