The kind of beer I just want to drink all night from a thin lipped galss that enhances the bitterness / maltiness. Well balanced and so clean. Not distinctive insofaras hitting you over the head with any one characteristic but wonderful color and somewhat craggy head lead to a regal balance of hoppiness and caramel malt that grows on me like a partner with hidden talents. jonas (7586) - Garching b. Dark malty aroma.
Golden brown, big rocky golden head.
Honeyish malt with some gunpowder edges from the coloring malt.
Aromahop wrap everything of.
A beer with a distinctive identity - pleasantly different from the standarddunkel I meet so often here. rickgordon (3878) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 7, 2008
From bottle at the brewery, it was closed but we got our share.
Red-copper colour. Really malty aroma with bit of toastiness. Good juicy maltiness. High quality. (sun was shining)

Medium head, lightish brown colour. Cool, malty aroma, with faint fruitiness. Full, harmonic, well-rounded malt taste with faint hints of roastiness. Aftertaste is mostly hops and faint roastiness, somewhat dry. A good session beer, but not too interesting. carlmod (2) - SWEDEN - JUL 8, 2009 does not count

Clear medium to dark orange amber color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, nutty, toffee, light caramel, light hoppy, flowers. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Burnt caraml sweet and bitter like Weyermann malt candy. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft.
It’s like pouring liquid, red amber – beautiful! The head is creamy and the aroma has notes of butterscotch, toffee, malt and light flower. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of syrup, butterscotch, malt, caramel, light flower and the finish is slightly dry with hints of citrus. pivnizub (10620) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - APR 10, 2006
Bügelverschlußflasche: Reddish-amber coloured, medium-sized almost creamy head, stable, lively carbonation; stronger sweet (toasted) malty nose with a touch of molasses; first a little bit sweet, but mainly dry and a bit bitter flavour; dryer, aromatic bitter finish accompanied by some maltiness. Good, full flavoured, complex Dunkel............. ganache (5905) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 18, 2006
Swing-top. Very inviting nutty aroma of caramel, yeast, toffee, and bread/pretzel malt. Orange-amber pour, head is beige. Medium bitterness and light sweetness. Breadish through and through, natural and earthy (composty?), ends very hoppily and with a touch of toast. Body’s a touch light, but the prickly spiciness / pepper helps. After my palate fully adjusts, it finds light fruitiness. Good character. rauchbier (3891) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2005
Bottle, from Landbierparadies shop, Nürnberg. Deep copper, thin off white head and gentle fine condition. Low bready malt and caramel aromas, fruity caramel and gentle peppery hops in the mouth and a pleasant hop bitter finish with some caramel lingering.
