Schönramer Pils has a very thick, frothy, white head, a hazy, straw appearance, with some ascending bubbles, and heavy and impressive lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, mild cracker, and the flavor is of white bread, sweet malt, and fairly prominent, grassy hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Schönramer Pils finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2016 Re-scoring after repeat drinkings and growing infatuation. This beer is now a good friend of mine. Old rate June 2015: On draft at the Monterey Bar in Berlin a few nights ago. There were a bunch of American IPAs on (and the like), but this was the only thing that could scratch my itch. Having tasted it a few times I think it may be just as good as the more ballyhooed Grünhopfen. There is plenty of zesty-herbal hop flavor here, to go with a nicely bitter bite, lovely gold color with resilient foam, and fine grainy character.

Super fresh 6-pack bought at the brewery and drank over the next three nights. Crystal clear pale gold. Herbal, spicy, noble nose with a tight crispiness that feels mineral and just a touch tart. Expertly extracted bready malts, crackery, fresh as a loaf of bread out of the oven, the bubbles crack over the palate like the crust on that loaf. The first few sips are satisfying, but when you’re craving for more after a 2nd bottle, you know you have encountered a champion. Beautiful quaffable pils.

On tap @ Vagabond Brauerei, Berlin - DE. Color: clear blond beer with no carbonation and big white foam. Smell: malt and bitter finish. Taste: classical pils with high bitterness finish. Aftertaste: bitter and dry sensation.

Alles ok hier.

Bottle from Bierzwerg in Greven. The beer has got a clear golden colour with an airy head and crisp body. Aroma of hops and citrus fruits. Taste of hops, grass, citrus fruits and white bread. Bitter finish. Refreshing and drinkable.

Bottle from Bierothek. Pale gold, effervescent, with a fine, thick head. Lemony nose, huge, smells like citra hops and very American. Crackery, crisp malt. Light and crisp flavor, lots of strong citrus hopping, seems quite American, though it says they use Hallertau and Spalter. Very American in approach but a traditional pils. I like it a lot.

Crystal clear golden colour with a frothy white head. Noses of straw, barnyard and subtle orange zest aromas. Softly carbonated, effervescent, medium body with light bitterness, some tartness and a fruity sweet influence. Lasting finish. Nice!
