bartholos (256) - GERMANY - SEP 7, 2015
Bottle. Pale golden colored with a medium white head. Fruity in nose with notes of citrus and passion fruit and a floral aroma. Light metallic note as well. Very bitter in taste for a pilsener. The bitterness along with the citrus notes make a nice grapefruit flavor as well as some spiciness. The malt is staying back and leaves the stage for the complex ensemble of hops. The body is light with medium carbonation. After the nice bitter finish stays a light sweet fruity aftertaste. Besides the light awkward metallic smell a very good Pils. Brewed 5/29/15 and consumed less than three months later in a brown glass bottle, this one shouldn’t be in too bad of shape. Yet it’s far from great. Very light pour, pale straw with a nice fluffy white head. Flavors are flabby -- as much cardboard as Hallertauer crispness. Mildly grainy, reasonably dry. Just no magic here.
Maker: Private Landbrauerei Schönram, Petting/Schönram, Germany ***
Beer: Schönramer Pils (bottled, unfiltered, 330ml) ***
Style: Pilsener ***
ALC.VOL.: 5.0% ***
"Brewed with the finest Spalter and Hallertauer aroma hops by the Private Landbrauerei Schönram." [brewery note] ***
Colour: Hazy straw yellow; small, fluffy white head. ***
Nose: Grain, bread, floral hops, grass. ***
Texture: Medium body, not watery at all. Moderate carbonation.***
Taste: Strong floral hops at the start (far stronger than in a "supermarket pils", lemon, grass, hay, herbal notes, even pine. Hoppy and bitter towards thew middle, with citrus notes. Pine, hops and mild resinous notes in the finish, again with lemon. Lasting, bitter, hoppy aftertaste. ***
Impressions: As far removed from an "industrial pilsener" as possible, but still recognizably in the style - mixed with IPA characteristics. Really excellent beer that proves the Pils style isn’t completely useless when handled (and adapted) properly. mateuszk (2670) - Poznań, POLAND - AUG 19, 2015
Draught. Classic german pils with light malty body, herbal hops in the aroma and solid hoppy bittetness. Crisp, drinkable, tasty. Svesse (8579) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2015
(Draught at Kaschk, Berlin, 19 July 2015) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with bread, grass, hay and herbal hops. Malty taste with notes of bread, grass, hay, a touch of citrus, vanilla and a balanced grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a light sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Piana niska, sycząca, szybko opada do kożuszka. Barwa słomkowa, klarowna. W zapachu nieco trawy, troszkę cytrusów i biszkoptów. W smaku lekka ciasteczkowa słodycz, białe winogrona, trawiasta cierpkość, chmielowa owocowość, cytrynowy posmak. W kontrze średnia goryczka. Dość orzeźwiający trunek, przypomina szampana, lekko wodnisty, średnio nagazowany. W posmaku skojarzenia z białym winem półsłodkim.
Klasyczny, lekki niemiecki pils, sesyjny i bez wad z dodatkiem nowofalowych niemieckich chmieli.
Schönramer Pils has a very thick, frothy, white head, a hazy, straw appearance, with some ascending bubbles, and heavy and impressive lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, mild cracker, and the flavor is of white bread, sweet malt, and fairly prominent, grassy hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Schönramer Pils finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT JoeinDahlem (1503) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 22, 2015
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2016 Re-scoring after repeat drinkings and growing infatuation. This beer is now a good friend of mine. Old rate June 2015: On draft at the Monterey Bar in Berlin a few nights ago. There were a bunch of American IPAs on (and the like), but this was the only thing that could scratch my itch. Having tasted it a few times I think it may be just as good as the more ballyhooed Grünhopfen. There is plenty of zesty-herbal hop flavor here, to go with a nicely bitter bite, lovely gold color with resilient foam, and fine grainy character. drmet (952) - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, GERMANY - JUN 20, 2015

Great German Pils Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 9, 2015
Super fresh 6-pack bought at the brewery and drank over the next three nights. Crystal clear pale gold. Herbal, spicy, noble nose with a tight crispiness that feels mineral and just a touch tart. Expertly extracted bready malts, crackery, fresh as a loaf of bread out of the oven, the bubbles crack over the palate like the crust on that loaf. The first few sips are satisfying, but when you’re craving for more after a 2nd bottle, you know you have encountered a champion. Beautiful quaffable pils.
