COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 3-Grid IPA is our flagship ale. This India Pale Ale’s citrus notes are created by Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Amarillo hops from Yakima Valley, making it a true Northwest-style crowd pleaser. The alchemists at Schooner EXACT balance the hoppiness with a hint of malt, making this IPA one that pleases the staunchest of hopheads as well as the microbrew newbie.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with white head. Resiny, green hop, bitter flavors. May be a little old.

I cannot complain about this IPA. It is perfectly balanced. There are no uniquely discerning attributes or characteristics that may be memorable, other than the fact that this is just a damn good IPA. Prototypical for the style. Melds pine, resin, and to a lesser extent citrus notes in balance. Sufficiently hoppy, but doesn’t give away anything on the malt bill, either.

Bottle @ Jon’s place on the 4th. Pours a bit hazy golden orange appearance with a lasting white head. A lot of caramel and bread in the nose. Dull grapefruit and herbal hops. Fairly burger. Nutty, toasted bready flavor. Slightly oxidized. Dull citrus. Not that great.

Awesome piney hop flavor and aroma. Lasting white head. The malt character is understated, bready flavor that supports the hops and not much else. Overall a great example of what can be done with hops.

Draft at the brewery. Light amber body. Moderately hoppy aroma. Fresh hops in the flavor with some bready malts in the background. Alcohol well-hidden.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe. Clear deep yellow pour with an off white head. Mild piney hop aromas. Not huge but still note worthy pine and resin hop notes. Average body and mouthfeel. A nice IPA.

Golden amber color with frothy white head. a touch of caramel, pine and touch of wood in the nose. Decent backbone, but very hop forward without being too aggressive. very drinkable and approachable IPA. Not huge depth, but well executed IPA.

Bomber from whole foods. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A sweet fruity nose with some caramel and yeast. Sone dry yeast, big flavors of citrus, oranges, light bitterness. Good and smooth.

Can. Pours a very clear copper/amber color with a moderate white head on there. Nose has some floral and resin elements to it, and is very welcoming for a hop fiend. Taste is actually quite bitter, and keeps the bitterness going for a while on the palate. It ends up being a really nice hophead beer.

Piney and floral hops finished with citrus. Decent body but really all about the hops. Quite vibrant, without quite matching the WC monsters.
