Bomber from Special Brews in Lynwood, WA. Pours dark brown with a creamy/foamy tan head. Mild bourbon and a little chocolate aroma through a lot of head. Med body or so. Flavor is bourbon, wood, chocolate. Decent drink. Glad I didn’t keep it til summer. Finishes somewhat astringent with chocolate here and there. Bourbon too. UKH on tap at CBB in Osaka - pricey at 1200 yen! Schooner Exact Hoppy Woodsman pours a deep mahogany brown with a creamy tan head. It has a sweet woodsy oak aroma. The taste is great, a bit smokey, sweet whiskey, oak, vanilla and some coffee+dark chocolate. Smooth med-full body. Great, it’s well balanced and smooth drinking. mcberko (17205) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 7, 2015
On tap at Schooner Exact, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of whiskey barrels upfront, along with light caramel, and alcohol. Flavour is heavy on the whiskey as well, with huge boozy alcoholic woody notes, and more whiskey. Quite overwhelming, though somehow still drinkable, albeit slowly. Dominated by the whiskey - decent. Draft - Boozy bourbon notes, apple and oak. Cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Boozy bourbon, some anise and lots of booze in the finish. A bit too hot for me. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - FEB 1, 2015
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is a little boozy with a lot of wood and bourbon to it, and little from the base beer. Taste is a bit sweet with caramel and a fair amount of bourbon. Ok.

Bomber brought back from Portland, OR. Rich chocolate malt aroma with good bourbon, oak, and vanilla notes. Pours dark brown with a large light brown head with good retention and decent lacing. Starts smooth with good chocolate as well as some caramel flavors. Finishes mostly smooth with just a bit of dryness with the bourbon, oak and vanilla coming through nicely. Good brew that hides the alcohol well while being quite warming. tcon25 (821) - Duvall, Washington, USA - JAN 19, 2015
Draft pour at Elliott Bay. Dark brown pour, slight Bourbon aroma, smooth taste. slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 17, 2014
A very well balanced ale. Rich and luxurious, equal parts dark and chocolatey, roasted, and vanilla Oaked goodness. Hops still shine through the barrels a bit. An excellent brew." nuplastikk (6222) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 21, 2014
220z bomber c/o Elise. 2013 Vintage. Cherry brown-burgundy body. Big, fluffy beige head. Kind of a mellow aroma...caramel, chocolate, oak, whiskey. Sweet and rich, but somewhat delicate on the palate still. The big brown winter ale still shows, luscious brown malt tones, and it has a pleasant balance to it. Doesn’t have that taste like they threw a liter of booze into the barrel to prime it. A really easy drinking 9% beer, smooth and easy on the palate. Good stuff. Never a sugar bomb or cloying, which is rare for the style in my opinion. tmoreau (4298) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2014
Shared bomber, poured to snifters showing a clarified mahogany color, with a modest layer of off white foam that reduced to a persistent ring, and wavy cling to the lacing. The aroma was grape, light spice, with vanilla, and a note similar to toasted marshmallow, that lightly smoothed the tartness of the fruit. The taste was similar, medium+ bodied, with some dryness, bourbony alcohol presence, but a little less impressive than the nose. Tasty, nonetheless.
