Draft at Burgundian. Pours a deep dark black with a brownish tint and a rich and creamy tan head. Dense aroma of coffee and dark chocolate with a touch of nuttiness. Tons of coffee and chocolate in the flavor as well, very rich. Finishes on the dry side with bittering that leans a touch on the ashy side for me. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Draft at special brews. Pours black with a dense and creamy dark tan head that drifts away after a few sips. Big dark roasty nose, almost coffee, with dark bitter chocolate lurking. Dense creamy mid palate with lively carb. Roasty dark coffee and cocoa mid palate. Loooong coffee cocoa finish. Very dense dramatic and desserty beer. Aml42000 (622) - Washington, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Poured from tap into a snifter. Roasted espresso with some bitter chocolate. Lingering smoky flavors on the finish. Pitch black with a thick beige head. Delicious beer. I have a half growler with a sealed cap and will leave it for a while to integrate. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 23, 2011
Black pour, large beige head. Roast and char on the nose, some coffee, herbal hops. Lots of roast and char on the flavor as well, but not too ashy. Pretty hoppy on the finish, with lingering char and bitterness. Not a lot of complexity, but it’s a nice, clean, easy to drink beer for something nearly 10% abv.

Patent malt nose, roasty, light chocolate notes, earthy hop notes. Nice and hoppy in the nose works very well with the darker malts. Pours dark brown, more or less black with a tan head. The flavor starts roasty, has nice patent malt notes, lightly sweet throughout with a nice strong earthy leafy bitterness in the finish. No idea this was 9.7% drank very nicely. Really solid stuff here.
