The Seamstress Union is back by popular demand. This raspberry wheat ale is made in very limited quantities each year. It is the prefect beer for a summer day. Raspberries along with unmalted wheat give this fruit beer a refreshing "tartness." hallertau hops and a dry finish further distinguish this wheat from other Northwest fruit beer. Its subtly "pink" hue further heightens the drinking experience. Why not? It is summer after all.

On tap at WABL Fathers Day BrewFest 2008. Listed as an "American Hefeweizen" on the festival website, but lets face it: This is a fruit beer. Pours opaque pale pink with a lacy white head. The berries show up just a bit in the nose, along with some wheat character. Light, watery body with faint carbonation. Not much in the taste, being sort of a liquid echo of the aroma. Fades into nothingness.

A unique but bit of an off tasting beer. Pours a nice bright cloudy orange with a white head and lots of sediment. Smells of raspberry and floral notes, especially rose hips. Taste starts with floral notes, but then becomes quite empty tasting. Only a hint of ripe raspberry in the finish and aftertaste. Had in the bottle.

On tap @ Schooner. Pours cloudy pale orange with a thick head. Taste is crisp wheat, minimal but present hops, and just a hint of fruit. So easy to overdo a fruit beer, this is great. Light and easy drinking, with just enough flavor. To be fair, the bike ride down there made this taste even better, but its still an awesome summer beer.

On draught at Baileys Taproom. Color of ros. Aroma of wheat and artificial raspberry. Taste is quite weak, with some notes of raspberry. Quite smooth.

Honestly smells and looks better than it tastes. Mild wheat body with subtle hints of raspberry pair well with fruity maybe herbal hop. Fruit notes could be more forward and pronounced.

On draft. I dont tend to like fruit beers, but this one is decently realized. Heavier wheat aroma and taste helps counter the raspberry blast. Still too sweet for my liking.

Serving: from tap at Hopvine Pub. Aroma: light raspberry. Appearance: very small, white, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Hazy, light pink/yellow body. Taste: lightly sweet initial flavor, and lightly sour, raspberry finish with average duration. Palate: light bodied with watery texture and flat-to-soft carbonation. Overall: interesting, thirst-quenching, but a bit of a novelty that I wouldnt drink regularly.
