Bottle shared at the Cleveland tasting by me, courtesy of Aspidites! Thanks Mike! This was a VERY unique beer and I am so glad I got to try it. An interesting stout indeed. Dark brown pour with some ruby highlights. Smelled like coffee and chocolate covered cherries. The taste was wild from the start, this was a sweeter stout then I was expecting, with the cherry flavor coming out in the finish. Then it turns a bit sour on the end. Providing a very unique sensation in the mouth. Excellent brew. GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - DEC 20, 2007
Thanks to Craig and Shawn for bringing this to our December tasting. Quite the pleasure to have been able to consume. Aroma is huge notes of a decadent chocolate covered cherries, light balsamic/acidicness, fruity and pleasantly sweet. Appearance was dark brown/near black in color. The mouthfeel reminded me in many ways of the Duchesse, when it sort of massages and tenderizes the tongue. Flavors were full on chocolate and cherries with a mashing of basque marinade, balsamic vinegar and a subtle roasty character to tie it all together. Really another great creation from these guys.
